Serve the Lord Sincerely

Good morning

Scripture reading: Joshua 24

Worship song: I will serve thee

Meditation:

Joshua was concerned about the well-being of the children of Israel and their future commitment to service. He wanted to ensure they were fully aware of their purpose and expectations and that serving the Lord was not an exception. Therefore, he called the congregation together and spoke to them. To encourage and inspire the Israelites for future service unto the Lord, Joshua took time to expound in detail their history and expatiate on what happened throughout the years. He then encouraged them to fear the Lord, put away the foreign gods from among them, and serve the Lord sincerely. Joshua knew the significance of serving the Lord and the consequences the children of Israel would face if they chose to disobey the commandments of the Lord and serve other gods. After listening to Joshua, the children of Israel decided that they would serve and obey the Lord.

Likewise, the option is given to us to choose whom we will serve, whether the foreign gods or the powerful God that calls forth everything into existence. If we are to accomplish the service that God expects, we must put aside our foreign idols and willingly surrender our lives completely to Him and serve him with all our minds, hearts, and souls.

Let's pray:

My Master and Saviour Jesus Christ, my decision to serve and follow you is final. Lord, I promise never to look back nor waiver my mind about serving you. Mighty God, I have promised I will serve no other gods nor seek to dwell or worship any other besides you, my Heavenly Father. Almighty God, when I am in the valley, please restore my soul and give me added courage to triumph victoriously. When my mountains get too hard to climb, help me to exercise my mustard seed faith so I can ascend them all. Mighty God, I dedicate my heart to serving you, and I hereby offer myself as a living sacrifice, surrendering all to you, Lord, so take my life and consecrate, Lord, to thee. Almighty God, please uproot what you have not planted and prune the areas of my life that are futile. I beseech thee, Almighty God, to fix what is broken and heal what is wounded within me. Father, all of my help comes from you, so please help me, Lord, to continue to serve you with a sincere heart through Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen.

Have a peaceful and prosperous day. 💓
