Not Deeper Than the Surface
Happy New Year Scripture reading: 2 Timothy 3:1-5 Worship Song: Beyond the Surface Meditation: The surface is related to the outermost part or uppermost layer of something. If we are not rooted and grounded firmly in Jesus Christ, then we are considered surface Christians whose faith is skin deep. Such Christians only believe in God as long as their prayers and needs are met. One can consider such Christians as having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof. Those who have a form of godliness are those who make an outward display of religion, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. They present themselves as godly but have no deep spiritual connection. There is no power behind their religion, as evidenced by the fact that their lives are unchanged. They speak of God and live in sin, and they are fine with that arrangement. They will go to church and enjoy the worship session, but down deep they have not changed. They will profess to be Christi...
