Not Deeper Than the Surface
Happy New Year
Scripture reading: 2 Timothy 3:1-5
Worship Song: Beyond the Surface
Meditation:
The surface is related to the outermost part or uppermost
layer of something. If we are not rooted and grounded firmly in Jesus Christ,
then we are considered surface Christians whose faith is skin deep. Such
Christians only believe in God as long as their prayers and needs are met. One
can consider such Christians as having a form of godliness but denying the
power thereof. Those who have a form of godliness are those who make an outward
display of religion, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. They present
themselves as godly but have no deep spiritual connection. There is no power
behind their religion, as evidenced by the fact that their lives are unchanged.
They speak of God and live in sin, and they are fine with that arrangement.
They will go to church and enjoy the worship session, but down deep they have
not changed. They will profess to be Christians but have just added going to
church, worshipping, singing, and praying as a kind of sugarcoat covering over
a heart and life that is partially devoted to the world and their previous way
of living. They have no fear of the creator and are not completely submissive
to his will; neither are they desirous to have a deeper connection to the
Saviour and that which concerns Him.
Let us pray:
Gracious Father, I look to you, O God, for I was weighed in
the balance and found wanting. Heavenly Father, sometimes it is hard for us to
identify our worldliness because we have become so accustomed to indulging in
the things of the world. Merciful Father, many times we do not think much about
the worldliness in our lives because we consider it the norm. Father, please
help us to examine our lives in the light of the scriptures and strengthen our
faith in you, O God. Father, if our lifestyle is not pleasing unto you, if our
hearts are filthy, if our worship is not genuine, I ask that you help us to
change, Lord. Father, we need your divine intervention as we turn to you, O
God. Help us to live pure and holy, set apart for you, my Lord. Heavenly Father, do not consume us in your wrath I plea. Please forgive us of our
ignorance and guide us along the path of righteousness through Jesus Christ,
and the leading of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Have a peaceful and prosperous new year. 💕🙏
Now is the time for planting and everyone must examine where they plant. Is the place rocky with no depth, or is it moist with rich depth to sustain that which is planted. There is depth available to all of us because deep called unto deep. It is unlimited as where one can go in the Lord and we should explore it. Let us all go planting. Blessings.
