Expectation vs. Reality
Good morning Scripture reading: Matthew 11:1-10 Worship song: Expectations Meditation: Expectations can be the source of both frustration and disappointment. Our expectations most times do not happen the way we anticipated them. Often, we set high expectations in our relationships, our roles as parents, our jobs, and even in our spiritual lives only to find that reality does not always match our expectations. What we anticipate will happen and what actually occurs can lead to disappointment, but it can also bring unexpected joy when reality exceeds our expectations. Consider John the Baptist, who prophesied about the coming Messiah and about his mighty works and miracles, but when he heard that the wondrous works had begun, he still questioned whether someone else was coming. This illustrates how our expectations can sometimes cloud our perception of reality. Human expectations often clash with God's divine plan. ...
