Actions Have Consequences

Good morning Scripture reading: 2 Samuel 1 Worship song:  Who God Says I Am   Meditation:      The Amalekite’s fabricated account of taking Saul's life in battle was an attempt to present himself as a hero in David's eyes. He was likely aware of Saul's relentless pursuit of David and therefore presumed that David would rejoice over his death and reward him. Rather than celebrate, David responded with genuine grief, mourning for King Saul whom he esteemed as the Lord's anointed. By claiming to have killed Saul to win David's favor, the Amalekite sealed his own fate and was executed for confessing to the crime.       We are instructed in Ephesians 4:25 to put away lying and speak the truth one to another, recognizing that persistent liars face eternal condemnation. Proverbs 12:22 makes it clear that lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who speak truth are his delight. The Lord hates a lying tongue and a false witness....
