Called to Serve
Good morning Scripture reading: Matthew 10:1-20 Hymn: Just as I am Meditation: Jesus Christ selected ordinary individuals to serve as his disciples; He also endowed them with authority over unclean spirits to cast them out and to heal all kinds of sickness and diseases. Among those Jesus chose as his disciples were tax collectors and fishermen. As Jesus commissioned his disciples for service, He provided precise instructions to take the gospel to willing listeners and to the lost sheep. The disciples were informed that they would encounter some stubborn, self-willed persons, who would reject the gospel. They were sent among the vilest of sinners and advised to exercise wisdom, be harmless, and remain focused on their mission. They were also warned about the persecution they would ultimately face.
