Warning Before Punishment
Good morning Scripture reading: 1 Timothy 3:1-13, 1 Samuel 2 Worship song: Search My Heart Meditation: Eli was ordained as the priest to handle the affairs of the church and matters concerning God. However, he had some weaknesses, for he was unable to reprimand his sons; he failed to govern his household and bring them up to fear the Lord. We are reminded in 1 Timothy 3:4-5 that those chosen to lead God’s people should be persons who rule well over their own households, having their children in subjection with all gravity. If he fails to rule his own house, he won't be able to monitor the church of God. Leaders are responsible for the spiritual well-being of those under their care and must give an account to God. Leaders and ministers are called to guide others in wisdom and lead them on the right path. They must be blameless, live with integrity, speak truth, and be examples in conduct, faith, and purity.
