Bloodline Repentance
Good morning Scripture reading: Matthew 1:1-16 Worship song: There Is Power in The Blood Meditation: The genealogy of Jesus Christ's human ancestry recorded in Matthew includes those whose lifestyle was characterized by acts of immorality, unholy living, and dishonorable conduct. Jesus did not descend from a perfect, holy human race, he entered a race that was broken, defiled by sin, and in need of a redeemer. His ancestors were not solely righteous, but defined by imperfections. The family tree features stories highlighting a lineage of sinners rather than purely righteous prominent figures. Based on the Biblical accounts in the books of the Kings and Chronicles many of Jesus ancestors in the royal bloodline of Judah were worshipping pagan gods, engaged in witchcraft, blood sacrifice, divination, enchantments, and trusting unfamiliar spirits.
