Seek Refuge in The Lord
Good morning Scripture reading: Psalm 46 Worship song: Hide Me Now Meditation: In Joshua 20, God commanded the Israelites to establish six cities of refuge for those accused of accidental manslaughter without evidence of hatred, protecting them from the avenger of blood until they faced trial, demonstrating a system of divine mercy and justice that allowed unintentional murderers to find sanctuary until the death of the high priest, at which point they were freed. The accuser risked the death penalty under two conditions: if captured before reaching a city of refuge, or if they departed that safe zone before a trial verdict or the death of the current high priest. Jesus is our city of refuge who fulfills this role by providing believers with a lasting spiritual refuge from the guilt and judgment of sin, shielding us from spiritual death through faith.
