Jesus Is Calling You
Good morning Scripture reading: Matthew 9:9-13 Worship song: Softly and Tenderly Meditation: Matthew, a collector of internal revenue, was diligently collecting taxes as is customary; however, when Jesus called, he immediately left everything behind and followed him. The Pharisees perceived tax collectors as adversaries to be avoided. Jesus regarded them as souls in need of spiritual healing. While the Pharisees imposed strict rules on tax collectors, Jesus extended genuine forgiveness and offered a fresh beginning. Jesus came to minister healing to the afflicted, sight to the blind, and redemption to all sinners. Ezekiel 33:11 reminds us that God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but desires them to turn from their evil ways and choose life.
