Beware of Deceivers
Good morning Scripture reading: Genesis 27:1-33 Worship song: Waiting Here for You Meditation: Deception derives from the Latin word 'decipere', meaning "to ensnare or "to take in." It is the deliberate act of leading someone to accept falsehood as truth. This practice is harmful and contrary to God's will. The cunning tactics employed by Jacob and Rebekah in planning and executing their mission illustrate just how easily manipulation strategies can be used to accomplish one's desire. Deception was the concept used by Rebekah to deceive Isaac and help Jacob obtain the blessing intended for his brother Esau. Proverbs 11:18 informs us that the work of the wicked is to deceive the vulnerable. Psalm 101:7 warns us that those who engage in deceit will not dwell within the house of the Lord.
