Good morning Scripture reading: Genesis 4:19-22 Worship song: Yield Not To Temptation Meditation: Lamech was the first person in the Bible to practice polygamy, marrying two wives, Adah and Zillah. His actions directly violated the divine order established by God, which calls for marriage between one man and one woman. His marriage opposed God's plan, as stated: "a man shall leave his father and his mother. He shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh" (Genesis 2:24). Lamech departed from the pattern of monogamy, disobeying God’s divine plan and marking the beginning of bigamy in human history. While our laws and culture reject polygamy as unlawful and unacceptable, the practice remains a socially accepted tradition in several African countries.
