Good morning Scripture reading: St. Luke 19:1-10 Hymn: Dear Refuge of My Weary Soul Meditation: The passage Zacchaeus is portrayed as a wealthy chief tax collector among the publicans, who desired to see Jesus Christ. Zacchaeus was physically wealthy but spiritually bankrupt. He must have experienced an inner void, prompting him to seek spiritual refuge. There was a multitude assembled, waiting to see Jesus, but Zacchaeus, short in status, pushed his way through. It is possible he was ridiculed by onlookers as he climbed the tree to see Jesus, but he didn't care, for he knew he was broken on the inside. After Zacchaeus communed with Jesus Christ, his concept of life changed. Jesus offered him salvation, and in return, Zacchaeus offered to restore fourfold what he had taken through false accusations and offer to assist individuals with financial challenges.
