Is There Room For One?
Good morning Scripture reading: St. Luke 2:1-7 Worship song: Make room Meditation: At the appointed time of tax payment, Mary and Joseph went to Bethlehem, but while in the city, the days for Mary to give birth were accomplished. They sought a room in an inn, but there was no vacancy available for her to deliver her child. Disappointed, they walked away and went to the only place available to accommodate them. The manager, though not appropriate for such an occasion, was their last resort. Imagine lying in a manger, among animals, not humans, on hay, not on a comfortable bed with blankets, in an animal feeding trough, not in a crib, listening to the sounds of animals, not the cries of familiar voices while giving birth. It is beyond our imagination. The fact, though, is that Jesus did not come to rest in the comfort of a crib. He came to take up residence in our hearts.
