It Is Time to Come Home
Good morning Scripture reading: Psalm 107:1-9 Worship Song: I Look Down the Road and I wonder (Medley) Meditation: O wandering heart, driven by selfish desires, searching and meddling in things that displease the Lord, do not kick against the pricks. The pricks, also known as goads or cattle rods, are long pointed sticks used to guide or spur oxen pulling a loaded cart. The pricks keep the oxen humble, and if they began to rebel by kicking out at the pricks, it would result in the pricks being driven into their flesh, causing more suffering. Paul, whose name was Saul, like the ox, was rebelling against God. He was on his way to Damascus to persecute the Christians when he had a blinding encounter with Jesus. It is foolish and futile to resist God's will. It is much better to heed God’s voice, to listen, and to yield to the pangs of conscience.
