Good morning Scripture reading: St. Luke 13:10-17 Worship song: I'm Free Meditation: Jesus interrupted the routine on the Sabbath day to provide both physical and spiritual freedom to a woman who had been bound by infirmities for eighteen (18) years. Instead of rejoicing over her miraculous healing, the synagogue leaders criticized Jesus for ministering healing on the Sabbath. Jesus revealed their hypocrisy by pointing out that if they can overlook their religious ritual to show mercy to their livestock on the Sabbath, they should likewise show compassion for a suffering individual. Jesus exemplified compassion, mercy, and grace through His healing ministry and ongoing miracles. By healing on the Sabbath, Jesus asserted His authority over it, for the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath day (St. Matthew 12:8).
