Actions Have Consequences

Good morning

Scripture reading: 2 Samuel 1

Worship song: Who God Says I Am

Meditation:

The Amalekite’s fabricated account of taking Saul's life in battle was an attempt to present himself as a hero in David's eyes. He was likely aware of Saul's relentless pursuit of David and therefore presumed that David would rejoice over his death and reward him. Rather than celebrate, David responded with genuine grief, mourning for King Saul whom he esteemed as the Lord's anointed. By claiming to have killed Saul to win David's favor, the Amalekite sealed his own fate and was executed for confessing to the crime.

We are instructed in Ephesians 4:25 to put away lying and speak the truth one to another, recognizing that persistent liars face eternal condemnation. Proverbs 12:22 makes it clear that lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who speak truth are his delight. The Lord hates a lying tongue and a false witness. All actions must be embraced with the understanding that rebellion against God results in divine unavoidable judgment. Honesty is a fundamental aspect of righteousness and integrity reflecting your character and relationship with God.

Let us pray:

Sovereign God, clothed in majesty, I declare your supreme dominion over all creation. At your feet we bow, declaring you are Lord over us. Father, today we are grateful for the warning that reminds us that every false utterance and fabricated story has consequences. Almighty God, we commit our words under Your divine guidance and ask for the discipline to speak with restraint. Set a guard, O Lord, over our mouth to keep watch over the door of our lips. Almighty God, remove far from us the spirit of deceit and dishonesty, and empower our minds with truth. May our words be seasoned with grace to serve as a source of healing and encouragement. May the words of our mouth and the meditation of our hearts be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, our strength and our redeemer. Amen.

Wishing you abundant blessings. 👏💕🙏

  1. What perfect human beings we would be, if we could practice what we preach but it is for that same reason why we have an advocate with the Father because of our shortcomings. We desire to do good but evil present itself. Nevertheless we should not give up on the desire to reach for higher ground, for there are higher heights and deeper depth and it is not without moving some rocks and clearing some brushes to attain the richness that we seek. All things are possible. Stay positive and remain steadfast. 🙏💪
