Prone to Make Mistakes

Good morning

Scripture reading: Romans 7

Hymn: Come Thou Fount

Meditation:

While we traverse this earth, we are prone to do what is displeasing in the sight of God, though sometimes not intentionally or with any awareness. We do the right things at times, but other times, we fail and fall short. We sin and we make mistakes. We are easily angered and sometimes display boisterous behavior. We are reminded in Ephesians 4:26 that we can be angry, but we should not sin, not let the sun go down on our anger, and give no opportunity to the devil. Paul, in the book of Romans, also admitted that he didn’t always do the right thing. While desiring to do what was right, he found himself doing what was wrong instead. He sensed a war being waged inside his mind, but these struggles helped him realize why he needed to turn to God. In the battles that rage inside us, we experience victory as we surrender our lives to Jesus and make Him our Lord. If we make mistakes, we should not give up or be discouraged. We all make mistakes, and we all experience temptations and fall short.

We can’t win this battle on our own; we need the help of our Saviour. God can help us live in victory. We need to “be strong in the Lord” and put on “all of God’s armor” (Ephesians 6:10-11). We need to be filled with the Holy Spirit and draw on His strength. We should seek to draw closer to God and humble ourselves before Him. We are prone to wander from the fold and from the God we love, so we should constantly be in prayer and trust God to equip us with His power and help us overcome our struggles. If you fall short or make mistakes, do not give up or throw in the towel. A righteous man falls seven times and rises again. Allow the Lord to direct your steps and lean not on your understanding.

Let's pray:

Loving Father, I humbly come before You with a heart burdened by the mistakes we often make. Lord, we acknowledge that we are prone to making mistakes, and we have failed you so many times. Father, we have sinned and come short of your glory, but Lord, in your wrath, extend mercy. Father, many times when we try to do good, evil presents itself. Remove, O God, evil far from our hearts; let it not reside in our mortal bodies. Tabernacle with us, Mighty God, and do not allow evil desires to dominate and control us. Lord, let our lives be a reflection of your righteousness and holiness. Father, show us the areas of our lives that need to be placed under your subjection and forgive, purify, and cleanse us, O God, from all unrighteousness. Take our wandering hearts, O God, and seal them for your courts above in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Fill us with Your Spirit and help us live in victory in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen.

Shalom.

  1. Prone to fail or fall are the weaknesses we suffer in this arm of flesh. This is why when one embarked on the Christian journey a strong relationship must be established. Hence the encouragement of Peter after 3000 souls come to know the Lord Jesus Christ, continue in the Apostles doctrine. One must continue reading the word, fasting, prayer, and fellowship with the believers. One can become hardened and fall away in sinfullness. Having done all to stand, stand.
