Whosoever Diggeth a Pit

Good morning

Scripture reading: Esther Chapters 3-7

Praise song: Wonderful Merciful Saviour

Meditation:

The Book of Esther is a fascinating story relating to the plot and scheme of Haman to hang Mordecai and assassinate all the Jews. Haman's anger was kindled against Mordecai because he refused to bow in reverence to him. Haman convinced King Ahasuerus to sign a decree that would permit him to execute all the Jews in all the provinces of the King, both young and old. After much persuasion, Haman's request was granted, signed, and sealed with the king's ring. Little did Haman know that God was looking out for those who feared Him and would not allow His people to fall victim to their adversary. Esther was appointed at a time such as this to expose the deeds of Haman. Haman was hanged on the gallows that he built for Mordecai. This intriguing encounter reminds me of the old Jamaican proverb, spoken mostly by the older folks, advising us that when digging a hole, we must not do one, but two, which means the trap you set might be for you. Are you guilty of digging a pit for someone else due to evil intentions? Whosoever diggeth a pit shall fall therein, and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him. (Proverbs 26:27). Cleanse your ways and allow the Lord to lead and direct you in the path of righteousness, love, and holiness.

Let us pray:

My dependable Father and God, I bless your Holy name, for you are worthy to be glorified. Great are you, O God, and greatly to be praised. Jehovah God, search our hearts, and if there be any wickedness, any corrupt thoughts embedded within us, I ask that you purify us, O God. Merciful Father, destroy and expose any evil thought that we might be cherishing, that we might be plotting against our brothers and sisters. Deliver us, O Mighty God, from the Hamans that have risen against us. Father, whatever pits have been dug, whatever proclamations have been falsified to destroy our reputation, our character, and our lives, I declare them null and void, powerless in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Almighty God, fly every trap and snare; release us from the pits that have been dug to entrap us, O God. Heavenly Father, let not the wicked encamp around us and triumph over us. Father, while we dwell in your presence, keep us safe from those who plot and scheme against us, those who fight against us, and those who have dug a pit for us. Shield us, O God, and deliver us from the oppression of men in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Keep safe. Blessings. 🙏💞
