Preparing for a Race
Good morning.
Scripture reading: Hebrews 12:1-3
Worship song: I Will Run to You
Meditation:
Winning a world championship is considered one of the highest achievements in athletics. Every athlete who competes in a race desire to win a gold medal and also to become the world's fastest champion. Any athlete competing among other runners with the same agenda and desire to win will have to put in extra effort to win the race. To have a fair chance of winning the race requires determination, commitment, vigorous training, sacrifices, endurance, patience, and discipline.
As children of God, we are
running in a noncompetitive race, and the challenge is to pursue what God wants
for us rather than what we want for ourselves. We have the responsibility to
press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly reward. This
race is not for those who finished first but for those who are willing to
endure to the end. At the end of our race, we should be able to testify, like
Apostle Paul, that we have fought a good fight, we have finished the race, and
we have served the Lord faithfully. If your hope is in Jesus Christ, you will
run the race without becoming weary; neither will you faint, for the Lord God
will be with you. Run your race joyfully with endurance and patience, and do
not succumb to defeat because there is a victory to be won.
Let us pray:
El Shaddai, God Almighty, we give thee thanks for your
word that reminds us that the race is not to the swift, but for those who will
endure to the end. Almighty God, grant us faith and strength to endure
temptations and patience to run this race unto the end. Father, I pray that you
will disrobe us of the heavy weight of sin and help us complete the task you
have given unto us. Almighty God, amidst self-defeat, disappointment,
criticism, pain, sorrow, discouragements, and the testing of our faith, propels
us to be steadfast, unmovable, unshakeable, and grounded in you, O God. Father,
as we run this race, grant unto us the power to overcome trials and
temptations; give us an enduring spirit to run this race lest we succumb to the
wiles of the devil. Lead us, Heavenly Father, and be our tour guide through the
rough patches and the many dangers that lurk ahead in the name of your son
Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith. Amen.
Peace out. ✌🙏💕
To run in this race requires commitment, endurance, patience and focus. The race is not for the swift nor the battle for the strong but for those who endure to the end. Let us be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Shalom.
