How Deep Are Your Roots

Good morning

Scripture reading: Psalm 1

Worship song: Rooted and Grounded

Meditation:

In the parable of the Sower, Jesus gave four different scenarios: the seed that fell on the wayside, the seed that fell on stony ground, the seed that fell among thorns, and the seed that fell on good ground. This parable represents the sower, the seed, and the soil. The sower is the person proclaiming the word, the seed represents the word of God, and the soil represents the heart of those who hear the word of God. The seed that fell on the good ground represents the believers who hear the word, accept it, and bring forth fruit.

The believers who are firmly anchored in Christ are like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither; whatever they do will prosper. Your acceptance of God's word is determined by the condition of your heart. Those who are not firmly rooted endure, but for a short time, and when persecution and affliction arise, they succumb to defeat. Their roots are dried and their branches wither because they have no faith in God. Those whose roots are not firmly anchored in Christ shall not stand in the congregation of the righteous. For our roots to be firmly grounded, we must abide in Jesus Christ, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith. As believers, we must walk as children of God whose roots are deep in Christ, so that no adversity can uproot or blow us over.

Let us pray:

Almighty God, as believers, we desire to be rooted and grounded firmly in you, but we cannot bear fruit unless we abide in you, and you abide in us. Lord, we are the branches, and you are the vine; help us abide in you, Lord. Almighty God, I pray that as chosen people who seek righteousness, our faith will flourish like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green and are not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit. Lord God, make our heart your home where love and faith abide and the word of God resides. Help us, Lord, to remain steadfast and focused, keep us rooted and grounded, and allow your word to germinate and bear fruit within us for others to see your good work and come to glorify you in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

 Have a blessed day. 💖🙏
