Do Not Fear, Only Believe
Happy New Year
Scripture reading: St. Luke 8: 41-42, 49-56
Worship song: Your Cries Have Woken the Master
Meditation:
Jairus's love for his daughter and the fear of losing her compelled him to go to Jesus for help. Jairus was willing to do anything for the sake of his only daughter. In the presence of a large crowd, Jairus, the synagogue leader, knelt at Jesus's feet, pleading with Him to return to his house and heal his sick daughter, who was on the verge of dying. While Jairus waited for Jesus to accompany him home, he received the devastating news that no parent wants to hear. His daughter died before help could reach her. Jesus knew the impact tragic news can have on someone, and therefore He consoled Jairus and told him not to fear but only believe, and his daughter will be healed. Jesus responded to Jairus's desperate cry at the right time. Life was restored to his daughter, and souls were saved.
Whatever God does is done on
his time, so exercise patience and faith. Jesus never ignored the humble and
earnest cries of the destitute. Touching him is all that matters, and our lives
will never be the same. As we embrace the new year, God is saying to us, Do not
fear; He is with us. Only trust him, believe, and we shall receive.
Let us pray:
Creator of heaven and earth, we bow down and worship you, O
King. Abba, Father, worthy are you, God, and worthy to be praised and adored.
There is none as great as you, O Lord, for only you can do the impossible.
Almighty God, we call upon you, knowing that you will deliver us from all our
troubles. Father, you have proven to us time and time again that you are our
great healer, our deliverer, our Comforter, and our provider, so when our
situations become overwhelming, when our burdens become hard to bear, lead us
to the rock that is higher than us, O God. Almighty God, may we be compelled
this morning to seek your divine intervention for those who desperately need
your touch. May our cries for deliverance be earnest and sincere enough to draw
your attention to our needs, O God. Grant us a healing miracle and breakthrough
as we patiently wait upon you to fulfill our desires through Jesus Christ, our
Advocate, and Saviour. Amen.
May your latter be greater than your former. 🙏💞
