Abstain From Evil

Good morning

Scripture Reading: 1 Thessalonians 5:22-24

Worship song: Make Me Whole

Meditation:

The Bible, which is our compass, strongly warns against indulging in evil. Evil is the opposite of good and, by definition, is something morally wrong, sinful, or wicked committed against human beings and against God. When a person chooses to participate in wickedness, they defy God's command. Evil causes unnecessary grief, pain, and suffering. King Solomon, the author of Proverbs 4, emphasizes the importance of staying away from evil. He warns against entering into the path of the wicked and in the way of evil men. His urgent plea is that we walk in the way of the righteous and avoid the path of the wicked because the way of the wicked is darkness.

David, in Psalm 24, urged us to depart from evil and do good, seek peace and pursue it, listen to the advice of the wise, fear the LORD, and shun evil because those who are evil will be destroyed. Abstain from every form of evil, and the Lord will sustain you. Do not let evil empower you; let good overcome evil. As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Ezekiel 33:11). A death sentence awaits those who choose to participate in wickedness, but if you repent, turn away from sin, and accept the Lord as your Saviour, he will forgive you and give you life eternal.

Let us pray:

Jehovah God, thank you for inspiring your servants to impart wisdom to us through the word. Lord, I am truly grateful that the truth is not hidden from us and that we can differentiate between good and evil. Father, we acknowledge your authority and power over evil forces, and so we ask you to shield our minds and hearts from evil influences. Almighty God, keep our feet firmly rooted on the path of righteousness. Help us, Lord, to abstain from evil temptations and the path of the wicked. Father, may we always display the love of God in every situation. May we not repay any man evil for evil but walk in the light of the Lord. Bless us with goodness and mercy, O God, so that we can reflect the life of Christ that resides within us in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen. (Child.

  2. Order our steps in your word dear Lord. Thy word is a light unto our path and a light unto our feet. When we walk with the Lord in the light of thy word what a glory it sheds on our way.
The darkness of this world is thick and we cannot find the way without you. Lead us Lord we'll follow.
    Keep walking in the light.
    Shalom.
