Why Struggle When Help Is Available

Meditation:

    Whenever we met to socialize, my sister would jokingly utter, 'Why struggle when help is here?' which would often be followed by an uproar of chuckles. As I sat and pondered her words, I thought of the things we struggle to accomplish or cope with every day. Many of us are facing challenges that are stressful and overwhelming, yet we try to handle them on our own without seeking help. Whatever struggles we are encountering, whether financially, mentally, physically, spiritually, or emotionally, help is always available. God tells us that we will face trials but that we should not lose hope, for He is with us. You might not realize it, but our greatest helper is Almighty God. All of our help comes from the Lord. God is saying to us, come unto me all that labor and are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take your worries, your anxiety, your sins, your problems, your burdens, and whatever is weighing you down to Jesus Christ, take it to the cross, and leave it there. He will lift your heavy burden. Why struggle when our helper, the Lord our God, says He will help us? Take your troubles to the Lord in prayer; He is the problem solver. Take your burdens to Him; He is the burden bearer.

Let us pray:

    My Lord and My God, in my distress, I cry unto thee, O God, my helper. Help for the helpless; I seek your help this morning to help those of us who are struggling to cope financially, mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Father, our great helper, we lay our burdens, our struggles, our problems, our sins, our iniquities, and our trials at the foot of the cross. Father, we ask you to intervene in our situations, take authority, O God, and lift the heavy burdens that we bear. Almighty God, as we take our burdens at the foot of the cross this morning, let your Shekinah glory fall on us as you anoint us afresh, O Lord. Fill us this morning with fresh oil. Sweet Holy Spirit, sweet heavenly dove, stay with us, O God. I pray and fill us with Your love and peace that endures forever. Merciful Father, purify our hearts, detox and cleanse our minds, and have your way in us, O God, as we trust you to help us overcome our struggles through Jesus Christ, our Advocator. Amen.
