The Greatest of Them All

Good morning

Scripture reading: St. Matthew 22:34-40

Worship song: Give Me A Heart Like Thine

Meditation:

While Jesus was teaching the multiple, a mischievous pharisee decided to tempt him by asking which commandment was the greatest. Jesus responded by telling him the first and greatest commandment is to love the Lord God with all thine heart, mind, and soul, and secondly, to love his neighbor as himself. Jesus also added that these two took priority over all other commandments, and all the laws and prophets relied on these two vital commandments. As created beings, we are expected to love the God who created us more than anything else, and our love must be extended to our fellow men. For if we say we love God and hate our brothers and sister, those whom we rub shoulders with, then it means we lie, and the love of God is not perfected in us. There is no way we can truly love God yet hate those whom we see daily. We are commanded by Jesus to love, and if we love each other, it means God dwells in us and his love is perfected in us. God is love, and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Love cannot be hidden, as it naturally radiates outwardly. Love is kind; endure all things; bearer of all things; not easily provoked; vaunteth not itself; envieth not; thinketh no evil; rejoice not in iniquity nor easily provoked. Love changes everything.

Let's pray:

My loving Saviour, I give you thanks, mighty God, for your demonstration of love and for teaching us how to love others. Father, while men look at our countenance, you look at our heart, which is concealed from man. Only you, O God, can know the hidden things of the heart because you are the only wise God. Lord, you are the potter, and we are the clay; our hearts are now placed on the surgical table, so I beseech you, mighty God, to do a heart transplant, remove our stony hearts, and give us hearts of flesh. I beseech you, O God, to give us loving, kind, and compassionate hearts; give us a heart like thine, a heart that knows no guile, Almighty God. Father, we worship you with praises, giving thanks for your successful surgical removal and replacement of our hearts in the name of Jesus Christ.

Have a peaceful day. Keep safe. 💕🙏
