Be Submissive

 Good morning

 Scripture reading: Colossians 3:18-24

Worship song: Withholding Nothing

Meditation:

To be submissive is the willingness to conform to authority or submit to the will of others obediently without putting up any resistance. It takes obedience, courage, and willpower to submit to someone in authority, especially if you are not the sole beneficiary. In the book of Jonah, Jonah refused to willingly submit to carrying out God's plan because he thought the people of Nineveh did not deserve forgiveness for their wickedness. God sent Jonah to the city of Nineveh to warn the people there and convince them to change their wicked ways, but Jonah disobeyed God's authority. Jonah instead took a ship and was heading for Tarshish when God intercepted his travel plans. The consequence of his action, though not detrimental, taught him a valid lesson. He obediently humbled himself and carried out the assigned task.     Throughout the scriptures, there are chapters relating to submission. We are required to be submissive to God and to our spiritual leaders, who watch over our souls, as they must give account to God for their service. The younger folks must submit to the elders, wives to their own husbands, and servants to their masters. Disobedience and unwillingness to be submissive come with consequences. Be submissive but be sure you know what or who you are submitting to.

Let us pray:

O God, thou art my God; preserve my soul and be merciful unto me, O God of my salvation. Lord God, as I read about how we are to be submissive, I pray you will grant unto us the spirit of obedience to submit in the areas where submission is required. Lord, we are not always submissive to those who rule over us, nor are we always submissive to your ways and your will. We often, O God, place our own selfish desires before your plan and purpose for us. Please forgive us, Heavenly Father, for we do not always know what we are doing or what is right for us. Please help us, Lord God, to be obedient to you and obey your commands even if we do not comprehend their significance. Also, teach us to be submissive to our spiritual leaders, O God, so they can serve you and us with gladness of heart. Father, I pray for the spirit of submission and obedience to trust and follow your directives through the leading of the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus Christ, our soon-coming King. Amen.

Shalom. ✌💕🙏
