Removing the junk
Good morning
Scripture reading: Nehemiah 9:1-3
Worship song: Change My Heart Oh God
Meditation:
Cleaning is maybe one of the hardest and longest tasks to accomplish which can sometimes be frustrating. As the festive season draws near many people spend days renovating, decorating, cleaning, and sorting through piles of junk to make adequate space available for new items. It is during this period that most people take the time to do a complete inventory of everything they possess and determine what to keep and or discard. It is amazing to see the amount of junk that quickly accumulated in closets, garages, attics, and basements from one year to the next. Still, these are not the only areas where junk is accumulated. Often our minds and our hearts become crowded with junk. Regularly, we need to ask God what needs to be discarded from our lives.
We
should engage in frequent maintenance checks and evaluations necessary to
counteract the subtle, yet deadly sins that are downloaded in our hearts and
minds, those that are detrimental to spiritual growth. Anything stored in our
hearts and minds that is not in alignment with the will of God should be
considered junk and then discarded immediately. As we prepare for spring
cleaning of our homes and vicinity, let us begin by cleansing our hearts and
minds of all the filth and debris that have garnered over time. We can be
transformed by renewing our minds and be in alignment with the accepted will of
God. Let us begin the spring cleaning of self and allow Jesus Christ to renew
our thoughts and minds.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come in your holy presence once more,
with our sin-scarred minds and hearts, seeking another spiritual cleansing for
sins known and unknown. Lord, we seek you daily for fresh purification and
fresh spiritual cleansing, peradventure we have sinned in our thoughts and our
deeds. Lord, we seek you for daily spiritual cleansing lest our unconfessed
sins accumulate against us. Almighty One, only you, can take our sins though
they are as scarlet and make them as white as snow and so Jehovah God, we look
to you to pardon our iniquities and cast them in the sea of forgetfulness.
Merciful God, as we confess and repent of our sins, and expect forgiveness so
may we forgive those who trespass against us. Jehovah God, I give thee thanks
with a heart of gratitude for your efficacious blood that was used as a
cleansing agent for our sins and our purification through Jesus Christ our
Saviour. Amen.
Shalom. Keep safe. 🙏💜
The awareness of sin is a good alert and with the Holy Spirit living in us He activate our conscience. This is the first filtering point. When we give attention to this, there should be no accumulation. Let us stay vigilant. Be blessed.
