Watch Therefore

Good morning

Scripture reading: Matthew 24: 42-51

Worship song: People Get Ready

Meditation:

While Jesus was on a mission with his disciples, he came to a place called Gethsemane and took with him three of his disciples to pray. Jesus moved a little further away from them to pray privately and told them to keep watch. When Jesus returned to the disciples, he found them asleep. The disciples were consumed by sleep so that they could not watch for even an hour. They were willing to do what was right, but they were weak in the flesh. Jesus implores them to watch and pray, lest temptation befall them. We are no different from the disciples for we are weak in the flesh, but still, we have a responsibility to ensure we keep our hearts pure and holy, waiting in anticipation for the time of his coming. We are to keep watch, be alert, be ready, be prepared, for the coming of the Lord is sure and it will happen when we least expect it.

Let us serve diligently and fervently because we know not when the Lord will appear. We cannot afford to let down our guard because the hour and the day of the Lord's coming are not known by any man, not the angels which are in heaven, nor the Son of God, only the Father. Therefore, be ready, for in an hour that we think not the son of man will come. We should also be ready because we do not know when the angel of death will pass through our avenue, and should it come at a time when we are not ready, when our heart is not in right standing with God, it would mean we have missed our chance to be saved.

Let us pray:

Dear Heavenly Father, we express our gratitude for your word which reminds us to watch, pray, and be prepared for your return. Abba Father, we seek your patience as we endeavor to persevere in our spiritual journeys without growing weary. Mighty God, we ask for your blessings of endurance and the strength of perseverance to wait joyfully and with gladness. Father, may we never grow weary, tired, or frustrated as we await your second coming. Father, we ask for a fresh anointing of your Holy Spirit to empower us as your representatives, that we may be transformed and become more like your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Wishing you a productive, joyful day. 💓🙏
