Beware of Your Enemies
Good morning
Scripture reading: Nehemiah 4
Praise song: Victory Belongs to Jesus
Meditation:
When Nehemiah received word from his brethren concerning the Jews living in Jerusalem, he fasted and prayed to the God of heaven regarding the afflictions and reproach they were enduring at the hands of their enemies. Nehemiah was granted leave to travel to Jerusalem and rebuild the broken wall and the burned gates. When Nehemiah and his team arrived in Jerusalem, Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem confronted them, mocking and ridiculing them. However, they were not discouraged by their folly, for they had a task to accomplish.
When Sanballat realized that Nehemiah had completed the wall and that the Jews were now safe, he became furious, greatly indignant, and contemptuous of the Jews. After the completion with no breach remaining, Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem, and the rest of their enemies were displeased. Sanballat then requested to meet with Nehemiah in one of the villages (Nehemiah 6).
Do you understand now how the enemy operates? He seeks to destroy, then
mocks and jeers at you when you are going through difficult times. After you
have overcome your struggles and accomplished your task, he de desperately
tries to become your friend, but with evil intention. Be cautious about the
enemies you welcome as friends; they often have ulterior motives. Beware!
Let us pray:
My dependable Father, thank You for Your word of wisdom this
morning. Lord, grant us wisdom and discernment in these trying times lest we
fall victim to our enemies. Deliver us, O God, from the hands of our enemies,
from the workers of iniquity, and from the wicked and the ungodly. Abide with
us, O God; defend us against those who rise against us and save us from violent
men. Father, may every struggle and every battle we encounter drive us to our
knees. May we learn from Nehemiah's example of fasting, praying, and seeking
divine guidance before making decisions. Father, we acknowledge that battles
are won and victory achieved only through You. Therefore, Almighty God, this
morning, we lay every battle, struggle, problem, plot, and scheme of the enemy
at the altar. Lord, take charge and accomplish Your purpose. In the Almighty
name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen.
Wishing you a joyful day. Shalom. ✌👏🙏
