Playing With Fire
Good morning
Scripture reading: 1 Corinthians 3:11-17
Worship song: Fires
Meditation:
Young children are fascinated by and naturally drawn to the mesmerizing glow that ignites from a lit match, and the glow that radiates from it captures their attention. They are unaware of the potential danger and or damage that can occur from its inappropriate misuse. A single spark can kindle a fire, and a fire has unlimited potential. Devoured by curiosity, children often ignore the stern warning not to touch or play with fire, but they only need to be burned once to learn not to get close to an open flame.
Playing with
fire can be fatal, for if you play with fire, you will certainly get burned. No
one can take fire in his bosom or walk on fire and not get burned. Needless to
say, exposing oneself to the potential to sin and being ignorant of the
consequences is like striking a match. When we are tempted to sin, we do not
see the destructive fire that is lit on the other side until we are consumed by
the flame. Driven by curiosity we sometimes ignore the warning signs of the
potential danger lurking to derail us until we get burned by its flames. Let
us, therefore, seek to be more cautious and strive to engage in holiness. Our
work shall be revealed, and fires will determine the quality of each person's
work.
Let us pray.
King of all kings and Lord of all Lords, clothed in splendor and majesty, I glorify you for you are worthy to be praised. God of a second chance, you said a contrite heart you will not despise, so God, as we lay prostrate before you, we confess that we have been weighed in the scales and have been found wanting because we have played with fire. Father, forgive us, for we have allowed the glamour and the glitter of the world to entice us, but we pray, O God, that you ignite our hearts and set them ablaze for your glory, mighty God. Almighty God, we are drawn away from your presence because of our lust and sinful nature. O God, battered and bruised spiritually, we seek refuge for our hearts and our minds that have drifted to unknown paths. Forgive us, O Lord, and turn our wandering hearts to you, wash us, and purify our hearts and minds through Jesus Christ, our helper. Amen.
Have a blessed day. Shalom. 👐💕🙏
