Subdue Wandering Thoughts

Good morning

Scripture reading: Philippians 4:8

Worship song: Still My Mind

Meditation:

Have you ever felt like you are drowning, sinking in your own thoughts of overthinking? The mind is the powerhouse of your thoughts, the place of conflict where uncontrolled thoughts create a gateway for negative thoughts to germinate and flourish. Most of the things that manifest in our minds are a figment of our imagination. Without control, the mind turns into a battlefield where thoughts generate anxiety, fear, and worry from false scenarios.

We are encouraged by Apostle Paul to intentionally focus on and fill our minds with things that are pure, lovely, admirable, and of good report, rather than letting our thoughts wander to discouraging or toxic things. We must shift our attention away from unproductive, anxious thoughts to focus on excellent things by aligning them with God's truth. To keep our hearts with all diligence requires shifting our focus and repositioning our thoughts on things that are positive and holy. Cultivate a new positive and righteous thought pattern. Embrace the divine perspective and allow God to empower you to walk in His perfect, good, and acceptable will.

    Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, this morning, we surrender our unruly minds to You; fill us with the calm of Your Holy Spirit. Silence the noise in our mind, O God, and open the eyes of our hearts. Subdue the forces influencing our thoughts and cast down every figment of our imagination. Almighty God, we solely depend on you, O God, to bind the strong self-will dominating our thoughts. Father, we need your help to control our unruly thoughts. Help us, O God, to be intentional gatekeepers of our inner thoughts, screening everything that comes through our eyes and ears. We ask, Lord, that you guard our hearts above all else, filtering out what defiles and letting in what is pure and holy. Create within us a clean heart, O God, renew a right spirit within, and change our mindset. Retrain our minds and redirect our thoughts to capitalize on things that are pure, just, honest, and lovely through Jesus Christ. Amen.

Wishing you a peaceful day. ✌💞🙏

  1. This devotion is just in time as I jokingly said something yesterday. It is a reminder to think before uttering anything because what could meant humor for me may be seen otherwise for others. This admonition is good for loose or contrary though. 🙏
