The Benefits of Forgiveness
Good morning
Scripture: Matthew 18:21-35
Worship song: Please Forgive Me
Meditation:
Forgiveness is choosing to release negative emotions such as feelings of resentment, bitterness, anger, and the desire to seek revenge against those who have wronged us. This journey of forgiving allows wounds to mend, paving the way for inner peace, joy, and freedom from past hurts. True forgiveness is not possible by willpower alone. It is a spiritual transformation empowered by the Holy Spirit, our divine guide. It is the divine intervention of the Holy Spirit that leads us to do what is holy and righteous in the sight of God. Our willingness to forgive others, as well as ourselves, will bring peace to our lives. The scripture reminds us that if we do not forgive those who trespass against us, neither will our Heavenly Father forgive us.
Daily we sin against Almighty God, and when we pray, requesting
forgiveness, we expect to be forgiven. If we learn to forgive others, the Lord
will forgive us also. Our fellowship with God flows freely when we forgive
those who trespassed against us. God is a merciful, forgiving, and
compassionate God. As His followers, we are required to do likewise. Too often,
we walk about with heavy hearts, clinging to the hurt and the pain caused by
others, but if we only let go and let God, our burdens will be lifted. If we
cherish hatred and resentment in our hearts, we block our connection to Jesus
Christ, our main source. If we are unwilling to forgive those who deceive us,
we allow the spirit of unforgiveness to control our hearts and minds. Refusing
to forgive is like poison, it slowly erodes our conscience, corrodes our
hearts, destroys our inner peace, and leaves us cold and callous.
Let us pray:
Merciful and compassionate God, we need your divine help to
eradicate the spirit of unforgiveness. Lord, we surrender to you our wounded
hearts and the pain others have caused us. We lay down the heavy baggage that
we carry in our hearts, O God. Father, please cleanse our hearts. Remove our
hearts of stone and give us hearts of flesh furnished with mercy, empathy,
kindness, love, peace, contentment, and compassion. Father, fill our hearts
with your love and peace so we can extend it to those who hurt us. Abba Father,
silence every negative word spoken over our lives that we have accepted as the
truth. Help us instead to fully accept and embrace your promises, finding
assurance and completion in your word. Heavenly Father, sanctify our hearts and
minds through Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Wishing you a peaceful day. ✌💕🙏
The first thing comes to my mind is the song. I am forgiven, all because Jesus Christ was condemned, He didn't deserve it but all for humanity. What do we do for all of that. Lord I give you my all, my soul, our best. How grateful are we for His sacrificial death. May we receive His forgiveness and live in newness of life. 🙏🙏
