What's In Your Treasure Box
Good morning
Scripture reading: Mark 12:41-44
Praise song: Sacrifice of Praise
Meditation:
The account told by Jesus of the poor widow is thought-provoking due to its message about the true value of generous giving. The widow's small offering is highlighted as a model of true generosity because it represented her entire livelihood, in comparison to the large but insignificant donations of the wealthy who gave only from their surplus. Jesus was not fascinated by the amount the rich were offering but by the widow's sacrificial offering of all her livelihood.
The message conveyed is that a
cheerful and sacrificial spirit is more valuable than a large amount, because
God judges the gift based on the giver's willingness and the condition of the
heart, not the size of the contribution. Our offerings to God should be given
freely and genuinely, as He values the sincerity and condition of our hearts
over the size of the gift. As we reflect on the account of the widow, may we
take into consideration the presentation of our offering unto the Lord, bearing
in mind the principle that the value of a gift is measured not by its monetary
amount, but by the sacrifice and intention behind it.
Let us pray:
Jehovah God, I worship you, O Lord, because you are worthy
to be praised. We humbly bow before your throne, O God, with our offering of
sacrifice of praises. Father, I pray, O God, that as we offer our sacrifices
unto you this morning, it will give off a sweet-smelling aroma that is pleasing
to you, Lord. We pray, Father, that our gifts to You will be a true,
sacrificial offering, not just a customary one. Almighty God, we acknowledge
that regardless of the proportion of our sacrifices, it is an expression that
truly reflects the conditions of our hearts. Father, we earnestly commit our
entire heart, mind, body, and soul unto you, Lord. We pray that You take charge
of our lives and let them be wholly consecrated to You, in the name of Jesus
Christ, our Redeemer. Amen.
Wishing you a peaceful day. ✌💕🙏
