Give Unto The Needy
Good morning
Scripture reading: Deuteronomy 15: 7-11
Worship Song: Taste and See
Meditation:
In accordance with the Gospel's mandate, we are called to deepen our understanding of the needs of the poor, accepting that their presence among us is constant. Poverty is a condition where an individual lacks the financial resources to meet a certain standard of living. Jesus' teachings about ministering to the needs of the poor are vital and should not be overlooked. Jesus' advice to the rich man highlights a core principle of following Christ, illustrating that active generosity and charity are necessary for those who seek to fully live by his teachings.
While it's common practice
to invite friends and well-off acquaintances to a feast, Jesus instructs us to
show generosity to the poor and marginalized, who can offer nothing in return.
When we help those in need, we should do so with a joyful and sincere heart,
not a resentful attitude. In return, God will bless our efforts. It honours
God, when we are generous to the poor. We are warned against oppressing the
needy for our gain in Proverbs 22:16 for he that oppresseth the poor to
increase his riches shall surely come to want. Apostle Luke instructs us to
support the weak, the needy, and the disadvantaged, and to remember the words
of Jesus Christ, which state that it is more blessed to give than to receive.
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken
together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. The more we give
the more we receive.
Let's pray:
Father of the fatherless and help for the helpless, I come
in agreement with your spoken word that reminds us not to turn our backs on the
poor and needy, but to cater to their needs in any way that we can. Almighty
God, we have been weighed in the balance and are found guilty. We have become
so caught up with our desires, and our wants that we turn a blind eye to the
needs of those who are living in absolute poverty. God, I pray for a divine
awakening. Pierce our hearts, Holy Spirit, and prick our consciences regarding
our wasteful habits, and ingratitude. Remove our selfish hearts, God, and grant
us compassionate hearts driven by equity and kindness. Please instill in us the
desire to do what is pleasing and just in your sight in Jesus' name. Amen.
Peace ✌ and love 💕.
Whenever Jesus bless anything and give to His disciples to share it always multiply, so it is when we are blessed we must share because that is what He wants us to do, not to hoard but to give, share because many times He bless us to share and we keep it for ourselves and this hinders the circulation of the blessings, the medium through which He works. Let us now free up the line. Blessings. 🙏🔥💪
