Give to The Needy

Good morning

Scripture reading: Deuteronomy 15: 7-11

Worship Song: This Poor Man Cried

Meditation:

In accordance with the Gospel's mandate, we are called to deepen our understanding of the needs of the poor, accepting that their presence among us is constant. Poverty is a condition where an individual lacks the financial resources to meet a certain standard of living. This societal problem has different categories, including absolute poverty, the most severe form. Those listed in the category of absolute poverty find it challenging to provide the basic necessities of life, such as food, clothing, and shelter. Jesus' teachings about ministering to the needs of the poor are vital and should not be overlooked. Jesus' advice to the rich man highlights a core principle of following Christ, illustrating that active generosity and charity are necessary for those who seek to fully live by his teachings.

While it is common practice to invite friends and well-off acquaintances to a feast, Jesus instructs us to show generosity to the poor and marginalized, who can offer nothing in return. When we help those in need, we should do so with a joyful and sincere heart, not a resentful attitude. In return, God will bless our efforts. It honors God, when we are generous to the poor. We are warned against oppressing the needy for our gain in Proverbs 22: 16for he that oppressed the poor to increase his riches shall surely come to want. Apostle Luke says we must support the weak, the needy, and the have-nots, and remember the word of Jesus Christ, which states that it is more blessed to give than to receive. Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. The more we give the more we receive.

Let's pray:

Father of the fatherless and help for the helpless, I come in agreement with your spoken word that reminds us not to turn our backs on the poor and needy, but to cater to their needs in any way that we can. We are absolutely grateful for your spoken words highlighting the necessity to give generously to the needy. Almighty God, we have been weighed in the balance and are found guilty because we consume more than we can, we have become so caught up with our desires, and our wants that we turn a blind eye to the needs of those who are living in absolute poverty. Almighty God, many of us have more than we need, we waste, and we squander, but I pray, O God, that our hearts will be pierced and our consciences be pricked through the leading and guiding of the Holy Spirit. Remove our selfish hearts, O God, and give us caring and compassionate hearts, hearts that seek to do what is just and favorable. Please instill in us the desire to do what is pleasing in your sight in Jesus' name. Amen.

 Peace and love. ✌💕🙏

  3. Blessed morning. God is faithful. If I can help somebody as I pass along. Then my living will not be in vain. Dear God, help me not to be selfish with my kindness. May I understand that I can not show kindness based on the actions or attitudes of others, but kindness is a trait that needs prayer, practice, and repetition. May we reflect you as our greatest role model. As we reflect today, may our prayer be , Lord help me not to look out only for my own interests, but also for the interests of others, may you cultivate in us a spirit of kindness. Amen. Stay Blessed 🙌
