Expect a Time of Refreshing

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Acts 3:19-26 Worship song: O Come to the Altar   Meditation:      We are encouraged to genuinely repent of our transgressions and turn to God, so our sins can be completely blotted out, granting us the right to experience a time of refreshing in the presence of the Lord. A time of refreshing is a promised state of spiritual renewal, restoration, and profound hope promised to individuals seeking a deeper, more intimate relationship with God. This salvation is possible upon the acceptance of Jesus Christ as the prophesied Messiah. Those who refused Jesus faced judgment as a result of their own decision and are already condemned. The final consequence for individuals who decline salvation and the invitation to change their ways is eternal condemnation.       Anyone who disregards Jesus and his teachings will face severe punishment for their actions. But if a sinner repents and turns from their sinful way...

Humble Beginning

Image
Good morning Scripture Reading: Matthew 18:1-5 Worship Song: Cry For Humility   Meditation:      When the disciples asked who the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven is, Jesus gently taught them that true greatness isn't about power but about humility. He explained that to enter the Kingdom, requires us to become like little children. Jesus taught two fundamental principles required to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The principles of conversion and remaining humble emphasized the need for meekness and surrendered obedience to God, much like a child's trusting dependence.       Conversion involves a shift in perspective and a change in desire, moving away from worldly pursuits and aligning oneself with God's will. And to be humble is to display meekness or modesty in behavior, attitude, or spirit, not arrogance or pride. When we are truly humble, we do not boast about our possessions but rather boast about our relationship with the Lord ...

A Righteous Deed

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Joshua 2 Worship song: Jesus Use Me    Meditation: There are a specific purpose and plan for everything under the sun, a principle that the story of Rahab, a Canaanite woman and a prominent figure in the book of Joshua, beautifully illustrates. Rahab resided in Jericho, a city known for its strong pagan worship, during the time when the Israelites, led by Joshua, were preparing to conquer the land of Canaan. She is highlighted as someone who hid the Israelites' spies demonstrating her faith in God. She believed in the God of the Israelites and was aware of his divine power and faithfulness towards the Israelites.       For her bravery and kindness towards the spies, Joshua ensured that her entire household was rescued before the city was destroyed. See Joshua 6:22-25, and Hebrews 13:21. Rahab and her family integrated into the Israelites' community. Scholars believe that she later married Salmon (Matthew 1:5) and bo...

Tested and Failed

Image
Good morning Scripture Reading: James 1:12-17 Hymn: Yield Not to Temptation   Meditation:      We are reminded in 1 Corinthians 10:13 that there is no temptation we experience that is not common among humans. There is absolutely nothing we can do to avoid being tempted, and none of us is exempt from being beguiled. Satan is crafty and cunning, so much so that he thought he could beguile the Son of God. The only power Satan has over us is temptation; when confronted with a situation that appeals to our human desires, we are all capable of succumbing to that pressure.       Temptation is not easy to resist, but God's promise assures us that we will not be tempted above that which we can endure. No doubt there will be times when we fail the test because we rely on our own strength, because we become distracted, and because we ignore the warning signals. Whenever you are tempted, remember that you are not alone and that you will never f...

Redeemed by His blood

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Ephesians 1:2-7 Worship song: Redeemed   Meditation:      God's love for us surpasses all human comprehension and exceeds anything we could ever ask or imagine. His infinite love for humanity is demonstrated through His unselfish sacrificial offering of Jesus Christ, the spotless lamb of God who had no iniquity, corruption, or sin. The blood of Jesus Christ is more precious than silver and gold and has the power to redeem and cleanse us from all our sins and liberate us from Satan's bondage.       While all people are subject to the consequences of sin, those who accept Jesus Christ will be granted salvation and eternal life, thereby avoiding divine judgment. Those who accept Jesus Christ are redeemed by His blood, their transgression forgiven, and their sins covered. The redeeming blood of Jesus Christ saves, sanctifies, purifies, cleanses, satisfies, and sets us free. His grace and mercies are extended t...

Outward Appearance

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: 1 Samuel 16:1-13 Praise song: O Lift Your Countenance   Meditation:      The English idiom 'Never Judge a Book by Its Cover' implies that one should not make a final judgment on anything based only on outward appearance. The passage from scripture illustrates the principle of not judging by outward appearances. The prophet Samuel initially assessed seven of Jesse's sons based on their strong, kingly physical presence. However, the Lord revealed to Samuel that the qualities God values are internal matters of the heart and character, rather than external physical traits or appearances.       The Lord looks at the heart and not the outward physique. Following the Lord's command, Samuel sent for David, who was out in the field tending to the flock, anointed him with oil, and appointed him   King of Israel. Look not upon another man's countenance because Christ's redeeming love and divine sacrifice are exten...

The birth of Jesus Christ

Image
Season greetings Scripture reading: Isaiah 53 Worship song: Emmanuel   Meditation:      While the exact date of Jesus's birth remains a subject of ongoing discussion among Bible scholars and historians, the precise time was not specified in the four canonical Gospels. This lack of a definitive date has led to centuries of debate, with various the with theories suggesting his birth might have occurred in August, May, June, or April. Although Jesus' precise birth date was not recorded, the core events of his life, crucifixion and miraculous resurrection stand as powerful truths in history. We know Jesus came to save and to call sinners to repentance. His blood was shed for the remission of our sins so we can have life and have it more abundantly.       We do know Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light; no one can come to the Father except through Him. He is our waymaker, our healer, our provider, and our miracle-working God. ...

Freedom to Choose

Image
Good morning Scripture: Genesis 3 Praise song: Order My Steps   Meditation:      God created the first humans, Adam and Eve, giving them dominion and free will, but with one prohibition: not to eat from the forbidden tree. When they disobeyed this specific command, they broke their covenant with God, which ultimately led to the Fall of Man. Their act of disobedience, damaged humanity's relationship with God, bringing about a condition of inherited sinfulness and intensified suffering for all mankind.        As earthly inhabitants, we have transgressed God's laws, altered His ordinances, and broken His everlasting covenant. We are given free will to choose, but because of the hardness of our hearts, we choose to meddle in evil instead of good. What choice have you made that is not in alignment with the will of God? Have you broken God's covenant to satisfy your selfish desires? God is still waiting and pleading for mankind to re...

God's Covenant with Humans

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Genesis 9: 8-17 Worship song: Covenant Keeping God   Meditation:      Sin among men was so prevalent and blatant that God decided to wipe out the entire nation. But, although His wrath was kindled because of man's rebellion, and though He regretted making man, he didn't destroy them all because one man makes a difference. Noah and his family were preserved from the Great Flood because of Noah's righteousness and obedience to God's commands. The Bible describes Noah as a righteous man, blameless in his generation, who walked faithfully with God. Therefore, after the flood, which wiped out the entire nation, God established a covenant with Noah.       The covenant God made with Noah affirms His commitment to creation. God's covenant is a demonstration of His love for his creation uttered through His spoken words as a promise never again to destroy all living creatures from the face of the earth by the waters...

Come and Dine

Image
Good morning Scripture: St. John 21: 1-13 Praise song: What a Lovely Name   Meditation:      The story of Jesus inviting the disciples to come and dine reminded me of times as kids when we would be outside playing, and our mother would interrupt our fun by calling us to come inside, saying dinner is ready. While the disciples were busy fishing, Jesus was preparing roast fish and bread for breakfast. The disciples were invited by Jesus to come and dine with Him shortly after he had suggested that they cast their net on the other side. To dine with the master was a great opportunity for fellowship and communion, far exceeding a mere social invitation; it signified being invited to share a meal at the same table in his presence. This suggests a deep, intimate connection and affiliation with the host, extending beyond a simple provision of sustenance.       Come and dine is a time to fellowship with Jesus. Come, partake in the divi...

The Water That Purifies

Image
Good morning Scripture reading:  St. John 4:13-14 Worship song: Let Your Living Water   Meditation:      Jesus Christ reveals himself as the fountain of living water. He is also the source of everlasting life. Christ is an ever-flowing fountain; he is continually supplying his people, and the fountain is not spent. Because of His great love and mercy, God gave His Son, Jesus Christ, to be our fountain of the water of life and supplier of eternal life. Jesus promised to give everyone who is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely, and out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. The rivers of living water symbolize the Holy Spirit that Jesus Christ promised those who believe in him will receive. The faithful who adhered to his commandments are eternally nourished by the pure water from the fountainhead. Those who forsake Him have hewn them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.       The broken cist...

Nothing Can Separate Us

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Isaiah 59:1-8 Worship song: Nothing Can Separate   Meditation:      The love of Christ is limitless; it does not come with any condition; therefore, it does not depend on our actions or character. There is nothing we can do to diminish or destroy his love for us, and nothing can separate us from his love. Apostle Paul in Romans 8 proclaims that no one can separate us from the love of Christ, not even tribulation, persecution, famine, death, or angels. Though it is not possible to change how much God loves us, we can cause God to turn his face away from us. God turned his face away, not because he no longer loves us, but because our hearts are corrupt and filled with evil deeds.        Our sins and iniquities separate us from the Holy God because he does not tolerate sin. We become separated from God when our hands are defiled with the blood of the innocent, when our lips speak lies, when we meddle in misch...

Knit Together in Love

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Colossians 2:1-8 Worship song: Lead Me O Lead Me   Meditation:      Apostle Paul was deeply concerned about the spiritual well-being of all believers. He was aware that traditional human practices and rituals seemed spiritual but were not rooted in Christ's teachings. Paul's concern extended specifically to the believers in the Colossian church and Laodicea, as well as others he had never personally encountered, who were being influenced and misled by false teachers.       As a teacher of the gospel of Christ, Paul's relentless efforts were dedicated to guiding believers, and helping them understand God's truth, urging them to build their faith in Christ so they would not be misled by human rules, experiences, or false teachings. Paul's protection of believers is a demonstration that true spiritual stewardship requires leaders to extend the same genuine care to others' souls as they do their own, especiall...

The Essential Role

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Ephesians 6:1-9 Worship song: Teach Me to Obey   Meditation:      The Apostle Paul, in his sixth epistle to the Ephesians, addresses the household and how believers should live their lives in light of salvation. He specifically addresses the responsibility within the family structure, urging respect, obedience, and adherence to instructions. Paul highlights the essential role of instilling biblical principles, particularly encouraging fathers to guide their children with love and wisdom.       Children are encouraged to honor and respect their parents, aligning their behavior with godly authority. Children's obedience to parents and servants to their masters should be motivated by the desire to honor God and live by his precepts. Likewise, the master should treat their servant with respect, justice, fairness, and kindness, knowing they have to answer to their heavenly Master. Let your conduct be honorable ...

At The Checkpoint

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: 1 Cor. 11:28-31 Worship song:  I Give You My Heart   Meditation:      During 2020, several military checkpoints were established in different areas under enhanced security measures to intercept the free movement of criminals. The things exposed during scrutiny at a checkpoint are quite alarming. A checkpoint is a barrier or manned entrance, typically at a border, where travelers are subject to security checks. It is also a place where vehicles are examined.       Jesus Christ has established a checkpoint, and daily we are scrutinized by our Lord Jesus Christ. All our deeds, thoughts, and actions are recorded, whether they are good or evil. It is our personal responsibility to ensure our lives align with the divine requirements of our Lord. This requires examining our hearts, minds, lifestyles, and spiritual connections to ensure they align with God's will. We must confess our sins and repent daily to ...

God Favored Me

Image
Good morning Day of Testimony- God Favored Me I  will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee. Psalms 22:22 Worship song: I Will Say of The Lord   My Testimony:      Although I accepted Jesus Christ in my teenage years, I did not know what it meant to genuinely serve Him. I broke my covenant with Christ, but after several years of wandering through the wilderness, I came to realize that my life is meaningless without Him. Now I am walking in newness of life with Christ as my anchor and my rock. I draw strength from the divine assurance that I am never alone, even amidst the toughest struggles.       When I remember the price Christ paid for my redemption, and when I remember that the broad road leads to destruction, I must fight the good fight of faith, hold firm to God's promise of eternal life, whereunto I am called, and have publicly professed before many witnesses. Looking back, m...

How great is Our God

Image
Good morning - Day of prayer Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness. Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. Psalms 48:1-2   Worship song: How Great Is Our God Let us Pray:      Merciful, Wonderful Savior, great are you, Lord, and greatly to be praised. There is none as great as you, Lord. I will lift my voice in gratitude, O God, and praise you for your goodness; you are gracious, full of compassion, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. I will sing of your unsearchable greatness, which far exceeds our wildest imagination. You speak into the darkness, and light appears. Lord, I praise you for your awesome power; you commanded the dust of the ground to form man, breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and he became a living soul. Lord, you are undeniably the God of Impossibilities; you command the elements an...

You are Not Forgotten

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Isaiah 49:14-16 Worship song: I Am Not Forgotten   Meditation:      It is natural to wrestle with feelings of abandonment, especially when faced with misfortune and or unforeseen challenges. The ancient Israelites expressed deep anxiety, assuming that their hardships were proof that they had been forsaken by God. They felt completely abandoned, interpreting God's silence as a sign of divine anger towards them. Despite their pleas, immediate divine intervention did not occur. In their agony, waiting and bewailing their relentless situation for prompt deliverance,   God reassures them by informing them that he has engraved them on the palms of his hands. He compared his unwavering love to that of a mother's love for her child, emphasizing that while human compassion may falter, His love is steadfast and eternal.       You may sometimes feel forgotten by God but rest assured God has not forgotten you. He...

Icing on the Cake

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 Praise song: Your Grace and Mercy   Meditation:      When a cake is covered with frosting, all you can see is the sculptor's intricate design, incorporating precise shapes and patterns to achieve an appealing finish. Cakes that are broken are not discarded but covered so you cannot see the imperfections that lie beneath the attractive decorations of their beautiful frosting. This is what grace does to our brokenness. The grace of God is a redeeming act of love that covers our brokenness like icing on a cake, transforming it into His radiant beauty until we are completely whole. God's grace is sufficient to forgive and cleanse all sins, offering a path to redemption and a new beginning.       No matter the condition of our heart, the grace of God who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Jesus Christ will strengthen, establish, and make you perfect. The grace of God is sufficie...

Seek Refuge in The Lord

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Psalm 46 Worship song: Hide Me Now   Meditation:      In Joshua 20, God commanded the Israelites to establish six cities of refuge for those accused of accidental manslaughter without evidence of hatred, protecting them from the avenger of blood until they faced trial, demonstrating a system of divine mercy and justice that allowed unintentional murderers to find sanctuary until the death of the high priest, at which point they were freed. The accuser risked the death penalty under two conditions: if captured before reaching a city of refuge, or if they departed that safe zone before a trial verdict or the death of the current high priest.       Jesus is our city of refuge who fulfills this role by providing believers with a lasting spiritual refuge from the guilt and judgment of sin, shielding us from spiritual death through faith. We can seek refuge in Christ, where we can escape the wrath of G...

Procrastination is a Deadly Trap

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Exodus 12: 29-33 Worship song: Run to The Father   Meditation:      The moment Pharaoh explicitly refused to obey God's command to let the Israelites go, he set in motion his own downfall. Pharaoh had the opportunity to consider the negotiation plan and consult his advisors about releasing the Israelites, but instead of reaching a mutually acceptable agreement, Pharaoh rejected the offer. By continuously postponing their release, he ultimately faced the tragic consequences of indecisiveness, rebelliousness, and hard-heartedness, culminating in the loss of his firstborn.       To ensure we make the right decisions and follow divine instruction, divine guidance continues to be channeled through God's chosen servants, enabling humanity to discern righteous paths and adhere to His sovereign will and commandments. God's patience with Pharaoh is a testament to the opportunities for right choices He still pr...

Pressing On at Any Cost

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Philippians 3:12-15 Hymn: I am pressing on   Meditation:      The Apostle Paul, a highly influential witness of Jesus Christ and dedicated preacher of the gospel, faced numerous trials, suffering, and persecution. Despite being imprisoned and persecuted for spreading the gospel, he remained steadfast and committed to the mission. Paul continued his mission to serve, seek, and minister to those who needed to know about Jesus Christ. He was not afraid to venture into dangerous territories. He pressed on to the higher calling by doing the will of God and completing his mission. To press on or press ahead means continuing with a task or activity in a determined way, without allowing any problems or difficulties to stop, delay, or prevent you.       Stay focused on your ultimate purpose and maintain your persistence, even when facing challenges. Consider it pure joy when you fall into divers temptation for the ...

Every Knee Shall Bow

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Philippians 2:9-13 Worship song: Bow Down and Worship Him   Meditation:      God exalted Jesus above all, granting Him a name that demands universal recognition; all beings will eventually acknowledge Jesus' lordship, culminating in praise for God the Father. Bowing down before God and confessing that the Lord God Omnipotent reigns is ordained by God; it cannot be reversed. We were created to worship, glorify, and exalt God.       All people, rich or poor, Jews or Gentiles, regardless of their current belief, religion, gender, race, language, color, or culture, will one day acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord and King, submitting to his authority and power. That day is coming, unlike any other day, when every atheist, unbeliever, idol worshipper, and everyone who refused to surrender to the sovereign Lord will acknowledge his authority, lordship, dominion, and sovereignty over all creation. As I live, says th...

They Laughed Him to Scorn

Image
Good morning Scripture: St. Luke 8:49-56 Worship song: He's able   Meditation:      When facing laughter or ridicule from others, remember not to be discouraged or offended. It is common for individuals not operating at the same spiritual understanding to mock or deride what they cannot discern or comprehend. Their reaction often stems from an inability to perceive the spiritual power at work in your life, not a failing on your part. Jesus Christ was laughed to scorn, not because he failed, but because the people did not know His potential; hence, they lacked faith in Him. Jesus never failed to deliver on His promises, but the people did not know Him, nor did they take the time to observe and learn from Him before ridiculing Him.       They did not know his capabilities or the power he possessed. When Jesus entered the house of the synagogue leader and declared that the child was not dead but sleeping, the mourners ceased lamenting and b...

Who is Your hero?

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Hebrews 11:32-39 Worship song: Calvary   Meditation: Each one of us identifies with a person we hold in high regard and seek to emulate. Perhaps your hero is a parent, teacher, leader, celebrity, politician, or someone in society whom you have not met, but who has had a profoundly influential impact on your life. A hero can be someone who risks their own life to save another or someone who fights for a good cause, distinguished by exceptional courage, nobility, and strength, and making a positive difference in the world.       There is an exceptional hero whom I have come to deeply cherish, who is worthy of our utmost devotion and unwavering loyalty. Jesus Christ is our faithful hero. Jesus Christ, the sinless Son of God, willingly took on humanity's guilt and suffering, enduring a brutal crucifixion as the ultimate sacrifice to redeem people from sin, offering them freedom and a path to righteousness and eternal life th...

Whatsoever Thou Sowest

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Galatians 6:1-10 Praise song: Sow mercy   Meditation:      Everything in life starts with a seed that reproduces to produce offspring of its specific type. God had designed all the different plants to yield produce after their own kind. A farmer anticipates a pea harvest from planting peas; similarly, we cultivate the results of our deeds. The quality of the harvest depends on the quality of the seeds sown, illustrating the principle that one will inevitably reap the consequences of their actions. There exist both good and bad seeds, so we should be cautious about sowing seeds, because whatever a man sows, he will one day reap.  They that sow to the flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption, but they that sow to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. The type or portion of what we sow determines the type or portion of what we harvest. Whatsoever we sow, we shall reap the reward. If you sow compassion, love,...

Escape Judgement

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Rev. 20:10-15 Worship song: The Old Rugged Cross   Meditation:      If you are thinking, like those who believe, that God will not destroy what he has created, you have the wrong concept. There will come a day when we will all stand before God to be judged according to our deeds. 6 2 Cor. 5:10 clearly states that we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that everyone may receive the things done in his body, according to what he has done, whether it be good or bad.       In Matthew 13, Jesus Christ explained the parable of the tares to the disciples helping them understand what the kingdom of Heaven is like. Jesus Christ declared what the kingdom of heaven is like. He told them that at the end of the world, angels will separate the wicked from among the just and shall cast them into the furnace of fire; where there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. God knows all we have done and will do ...

In Him Will I Trust

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Psalm 20 Worship song: I Will Say of The Lord   Meditation:      When the children of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir rose up against King Jehoshaphat of Judah, he became afraid and sought the Lord's help. He proclaimed a solemn fast throughout all of Judah, and all the people stood before God, including women and children, seeking his divine help against the great armies. Jehoshaphat urged the people of Judah and Jerusalem to believe in the Lord God and trust the word of the messenger, and they would prosper and triumph in the battle against the army that pursued them. He also appointed singers to worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness and to praise him for his mercy endures forever (2 Chronicles 20).       When you are facing giants, cry out to God, trust His plans, and worship Him with a sincere heart; praise Him in the beauty of holiness. Rely solely on the divine power of God, trusting Him completely....

Feeding on Cotton Candy

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Isaiah 55:1-3 Worship song: Give Me You   Meditation:      Cotton candy, also known as fairy floss or candy floss, is a confection made primarily of sugar, artificial coloring, and mostly air. This type of candy has no nutritional value, yet its sweet, sugary, tasty flavor dissolves in your mouth, tempting individuals to consume more. Modern Christian teachings are frequently likened to spiritual cotton candy that is sweetly sugar-coated, entertaining, and appeals to one's intellect rather than genuinely convicts the conscience. These messages tend to be filled with self-satisfaction and gratification. They offer immediate pleasure but lack substantive spiritual value or nourishment for the soul.       The church is diverting from its fundamental principles, misinterpreting scriptures to justify worldly living, and ignoring sinful behavior for the sake of personal gain, such as wealth, recognition, and pow...
