Dwelling in a Foreign Land

Good morning

Scripture reading: Exodus 12:37-42

Worship song: Faithful Pilgrim

Meditation:

The Lord God revealed to Abram in a vision that his descendants would become immigrants in a foreign land and would be mistreated for four hundred (400) years  Subsequently, He would send a deliverer to rescue them from bondage. God assured Abram that after this period, He would deliver them from their oppressors, and they would leave that country with great possessions. The events that transpired following Joseph's injustice and hardship laid the foundation for the circumstances leading to the Israelites' enslavement in Egypt.

After Joseph's death, the Israelites in Egypt continued to experience abundant growth and prosperity. However, a new Pharaoh, who did not know Joseph, ascended to power. Concerned about their increasing numbers and strength, he enslaved them, compelling them to build cities and labor under harsh conditions. This period of enslavement and suffering ultimately prompted the Israelites to cry out to God, who remembered his covenant with their ancestor, Abraham.

Guided by Moses, God's faithful servant, the Israelites journeyed to the land of Canaan after sojourning in Egypt for 430 years and enduring 400 years of oppression. God still hears the cry of the sojourners, be cautious whom you oppress, lest you wound those who are His. Remember you were once a stranger in a foreign land.

Let us pray:

Jehovah God, I acknowledge your sovereignty and affirm that you are my Lord and King. Lord, I believe you are the covenant-keeping God, who will never leave or forsake us. Remember your people, O God, and send destiny helpers to protect us from merciless taskmasters. Keep us safe from all evil, and safeguard us from the plot and scheme of Satan and his cohorts. Most importantly,  Lord, grant us the grace to remain humble, steadfast, and focused, recognizing that our existence on earth is temporary. Help us align our lives with your will and principles by extending kindness, compassion, and mercy to one another, especially to those who are marginalized, oppressed, and afflicted. We ask this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Wishing you a day of peace and blessings. 👏🙏💕
