Words can Either Bless or curse

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: James 3: 5-12 Worship song: Ancient Words   Meditation:      James, a servant of God, while observing the behavioral trend of those around him, realized that their tongue is a very unruly member of the body and cannot be tamed. The words that proceed out of the mouth are cause for concern, as the effective power of words can uplift and then later tear down what they have erected. This operation of the tongue acts contrary to the will of God and is therefore deemed unacceptable. Words can be a lethal weapon, powerful enough to damage the character of others, stir up anger, condemn, curse, and destroy the spirit and self-esteem of those around us. Likewise, the tongue can also be used to build, uplift, motivate, comfort, praise, and help others in making the right decisions.       As children of God, our words should strengthen and motivate those with whom we come in contact. Therefore, no harmful words shou...

Actions Have Consequences

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: 2 Samuel 1 Worship song:  Who God Says I Am   Meditation:      The Amalekite’s fabricated account of taking Saul's life in battle was an attempt to present himself as a hero in David's eyes. He was likely aware of Saul's relentless pursuit of David and therefore presumed that David would rejoice over his death and reward him. Rather than celebrate, David responded with genuine grief, mourning for King Saul whom he esteemed as the Lord's anointed. By claiming to have killed Saul to win David's favor, the Amalekite sealed his own fate and was executed for confessing to the crime.       We are instructed in Ephesians 4:25 to put away lying and speak the truth one to another, recognizing that persistent liars face eternal condemnation. Proverbs 12:22 makes it clear that lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who speak truth are his delight. The Lord hates a lying tongue and a false witness....

It Flows For Me

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Hebrews 9 Worship song: Unworthy of the Blood   Meditation:      Throughout biblical history, the shedding of blood has been directly connected to atonement, emphasizing the severe consequences of sin and the costly price of redemption. Unlike the old covenant, which required continuous blood sacrifices to temporarily cover sin, the New Covenant offered a one-time sacrificial offering through the blood of Jesus, providing a permanent cleansing that removes the stain of sin and maintains ongoing purity. Both the old and new covenants emphasize that sin causes separation and requires a sacrifice of life to restore fellowship with God.       Jesus' declaration in Matthew 26:28 clearly affirms that His death establishes a new promise, replacing the old rituals with a complete forgiveness that washes away the sins of all who believe. We are redeemed not with corruptible things, but with the precious blood of Ch...

Vested with the Authority

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: St. Luke 10:18-20 Worship song: Step On The Enemy   Meditation:      Jesus gave his disciples authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and to overcome the power of their enemies. The same power is also given to believers, and we have the right and are at liberty to exercise this authority over serpents and every enemy. Revelation 12 tells us that the serpent is Satan and his cohorts of darkness, working together to deceive the whole world. However, we have no reason to be dismayed or discouraged for God has given us the authority to defeat our enemies. God has given greater power to the seed of a woman. The seed of the woman is the children of God, those who believe and accept Jesus Christ, and the seed of the enemy is Satan and those working along with him to defeat believers.       Whenever the enemy strikes, remember that you are given authority and power to defeat his purpose. Remember that whatev...

Trading Places

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: St. Luke 16:19-31 Praise song: He welcomes the beggar   Meditation:      If you were allowed to live someone else's life, who would you pick?   While many are drawn to the popular celebrities, others are captivated by the luxury of the rich and powerful. I doubt anyone would willingly trade places with the severely physically afflicted or poverty-stricken.       In St. Luke 16, Jesus uses the story of the rich and the beggar to illustrate a fundamental truth highlighting that earthly wealth does not indicate divine favor, showing that the self-indulgent rich will face divine judgment, while the faithful poor will receive eternal comfort. The rich man lives in extreme luxury, dressing in fine clothes and feasting daily. At his gate lies a beggar named Lazarus, covered in sores and starving, hoping to eat even the scraps that fall from the rich man's table. The poor beggar believed in Jesus Ch...

God Does Not Change

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Hebrews 1:10 -12 Worship song: Great Is Thy Faithfulness   Meditation:      We live in an ever-changing world, but our God remains the same. Over the years, we have witnessed significant changes as men continue to develop and implement new technologies. Modern technology has drastically changed the way we interact, communicate, and access and transfer information. Moreover, over time, we also experience physical, mental, moral, and spiritual changes. We have also experienced changes in people, culture, relationships, health, and the products we use.       While everything around us is constantly changing, we can find solace in the fact that we serve a God who is unchanging and immutable. God does not decrease nor increase in power because all power belongs to Him. God created the universe but while the universe fades like an old garment, God remains eternal and unchanging. He is the same yesterday, today, ...

The conclusion

Image
Good morning   Scripture reading: Daniel 4 Praise song: Wonderful, Merciful Savior   Meditation:      After enduring a severe seven-year ordeal that humbled his immense pride, King Nebuchadnezzar reached the final conclusion that the God of heaven is supreme. He publicly declares to all nations of God's power and justice, acknowledging that the Most High sovereignly rules over human kingdoms. He was numbered among the greatest and proudest of men, yet God humbled him to a point where he recognized and acknowledged God as the true king.       Nebuchadnezzar thought it good to show the signs and wonders that the Most High God had wrought towards him. He said, "How great are his signs and how mighty are his wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation." Nebuchadnezzar praised, honored, and applauded the King of Heaven for His everlasting dominion. He ascertains that the works of the ...

Divine Action

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Genesis 7 Worship song: Noah's Ark   Meditation:      Acting on God's instruction, Noah built an ark to serve as a single structure providing safety from the devastation of the flood. God spared not the whole world, but saved Noah, an obedient servant of God and a preacher of righteousness. Once Noah, his family, and all the animals were safely inside, God Himself shut the Ark’s only door, sealing them in. The single door to the ark signifies that there is only one way to salvation which is Jesus Christ.       Just as the Ark served as the sole, divine refuge from the floodwaters, Christ is the only safe haven from divine judgment. By choosing Jesus, the door, we are guaranteed eternal life. There are no other alternative ways, religions, or personal efforts to achieve safety from judgment except through Jesus. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light. He is the sole path to salvation and the source of e...

Made In The Image Of God

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Genesis 1:26-27 Worship song: Cover Me   Meditation:      Words are powerful tools that can either shatter or strengthen our confidence, character, and peace of mind. Some of us know what it’s like to let others’ negativity define our potential. Numerous individuals are adversely impacted by the heavy burden of being told they will never amount to anything, they are unlovable and unworthy.         Unlike human speech, God’s divine words are flawless, perfect, and sound. His words act as protection for those who take refuge in Him. We are fearfully and wonderfully made in the likeness and image of God, reflecting His power, wisdom, and care. His enduring and infallible truth protects our minds and our hearts. When you are tempted to believe the negative utterances about your value and purpose, remember that you are God’s masterpiece for divine purpose.       Let us combat negat...

Subdue Wandering Thoughts

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Philippians 4:8 Worship song: Still My Mind   Meditation:      Have you ever felt like you are drowning, sinking in your own thoughts of overthinking? The mind is the powerhouse of your thoughts, the place of conflict where uncontrolled thoughts create a gateway for negative thoughts to germinate and flourish. Most of the things that manifest in our minds are a figment of our imagination. Without control, the mind turns into a battlefield where thoughts generate anxiety, fear, and worry from false scenarios.       We are encouraged by Apostle Paul to intentionally focus on and fill our minds with things that are pure, lovely, admirable, and of good report, rather than letting our thoughts wander to discouraging or toxic things. We must shift our attention away from unproductive, anxious thoughts to focus on excellent things by aligning them with God's truth. To keep our hearts with all diligence requires s...

Spiritual Junk Food

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: 1 Timothy 4:1-6 Worship song: Come Holy Spirit, I Need You   Topic: Spiritual Junk Food      Most of us choose foods based on taste rather than what is good for us. Even with widespread knowledge of the health risks, consumers frequently choose taste and convenience over nutrition, driving high sales for indulgent fast food despite the availability of healthier alternatives. Junk foods are preferable to many despite their failure to support a healthy, balanced lifestyle. Just as physical, unhealthy food harms the body, the content we consume through media, reading, and environmental exposure acts as spiritual junk food that damages our souls.       You can cultivate a spiritually healthy diet by immersing in God's word, and guard your heart by consciously feeding your spirit with truth, wisdom, and obedience to God. It requires persistence and commitment in prayer and worship. Being spiritua...

Evil Presents Itself

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Romans 7:5-25 Worship song: God, You're So Good   Meditation:      Within each of us lies the tendency to do evil and the potential for good. However, the outcome depends on whether we choose to do evil or good. If we shun the appearance of evil, it will not dwell in our presence; however, if we meddle in or allow evil to reside within us, it will control and corrupt us. Evil flourishes when ignored, poisoning the heart and killing the conscience. Apostle Paul testified of his struggles with the desire of the flesh. The flesh is corrupted, leading him to sin against his will. He is enslaved by the sinful nature within him.       When he tries to do good, evil presents itself. He emphasizes that there is a struggle between the desire to do good and the pull of sin, a struggle that continues until the believer is fully redeemed. Evil is a tumor, once you ignore it and let it take root, it will destroy y...

Something to Appreciate

Image
Good morning Day of Testimony - Something to Appreciate In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 Worship song: Gratitude   Personal Testimony:      Maintaining a grateful heart through all life's challenges alters our perspective and deepens our appreciation. I cannot fully comprehend the move of God, but I know He is working things out for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. I looked back with great appreciation on a situation that transpired during the 3rd week of January. Though what happened might seem insignificant, I find immense reason to give God glory, honor, and praise. The AC unit broke two days before the cold front, trapping heat inside our home. Fortunately, the incoming cold weather was exactly what was needed, making air conditioning and fans unnecessary during that period. Just as the cold front breaks, the HVAC Technicians fix the unit,...

Deep Sorrow

Image
Good Morning Day of prayer - Deep Sorrow   For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11   Hymn: Lord From Sorrows Deep I Call             Let us pray:      Heavenly Father, we humbly submit ourselves to your sovereignty, seeking your divine intervention, O God, to change our mindset and remove the spiritual blindness hindering us from seeing clearly your plan to prosper us. Almighty God, conquer the spirit of fear for humanity that clouds our judgment, and replace it with reverence for you only. Everlasting Father, we surrender our brokenness, our shattered hearts, our failures, our past, present, and future at your altar of sacrifice. We need your divine help to overcome challenges and obstacles, and the strength to remain fervent and faithful in doing what is righteous, acceptable, and honorable. Help us, O God,...

Working His Purpose Out

Image
Good morning Scripture Reading: Romans 8:26-31 Worship Song: God Will Work It Out   Meditation:      It is a misconception that accepting Jesus removes all life's problems; the reality is that faith brings inner peace and spiritual growth, not an easy, trouble-free life. In this world, we will be tested by the enemy, and we will have tribulation, but we must remain courageous and be of good cheer for he who dwells within us has overcome the world. God did not promise we would not encounter hardship. He did not promise we would have a perfect life here on earth. What he promises is his peace and that he will never leave nor forsake us. Consider Job, a man of integrity, seen by God as perfect and upright, a man who eschewed evil, yet faced unimaginable trials as detailed in the book of Job.       Every situation we encounter, whether it is sickness, tribulations, financial struggles, relationship issues, or spiritual battles, will ultimate...

A Jealous Eye

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: 1 Samuel 18 Worship song: This Is Amazing Grace   Meditation:      King Saul's expression of love for David turned into a jealous rage, triggered when the people applauded David publicly for his victorious defeat of the Philistines. Driven by an envious and malicious spirit, King Saul turned against David, viewing his servant as a direct threat to his throne. Despite recognizing that God had shifted His favor to David, a fearful and jealous Saul made repeated, failed attempts to murder his successor, fueled by intense rage.       When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him. The Lord will preserve the souls of his people and protect us from all evil. No force can overpower those shielded by the Almighty; in times of disaster, the believer rests in divine safety. Do not fear your enemies for if God is on your side, no one can truly stand against you....

Respond With Urgency

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Esther 4 Worship song: Hear my Cry, O Lord   Meditation:      Deeply disturbed by Mordecai sitting at the King's gate in mourning apparel, Queen Esther immediately sent him new clothes to replace his sackcloth, but he refused the garment. She later discovered his actions were a public display of grief over a written royal decree instigated by Haman to destroy all Jews. Too often, we jump to conclusions and hasten to judge, criticize, or condemn others' actions without awareness of their motives.       After uncovering the truth, Queen Esther initiated a mandatory three-day fast for all the Jews, declaring that she would break the protocol and enter the King's chamber, fully prepared to accept the fatal consequences that might follow.   Mordecai's act of public disgrace and Esther's bravery, led to transforming a hopeless, situation into a miraculous victory for the Jewish people.     ...

Hope In King Jesus

Image
Good morning Scripture Reading: Psalm 62 Worship Song: There Is Hope   Meditation:      What a privilege it is to bask in God's presence and celebrate the hope we have in Him. When life gets rough and the pressures seem unbearable, remember that we have a comforting Savior who shines His light in the darkest hour. When sorrow is your companion and the storm is raging, let us joyfully turn to Jesus who comforts us in all our tribulations. Don't let the storms of life shatter your peace. Lean on Jesus, the source of true hope, and let Him turn your sorrow into lasting joy and your anxiety into divine peace.       When loneliness creeps in and your friends are no longer around, find solace in the steadfast love of Jesus who is always near and faithful. He is our strong tower, our refuge, our deliverer, and anchor amid devastation. Do not be dismayed but instead be inspired by the hope that flows from our Lord Jesus Christ. Truly, He is inde...

Covered With A Mask

Image
Good morning Scripture Reading: Ephesians 4:30-32  Worship Song: Here's My Heart   Meditation:      A minister once said we mask bitterness as memory, defend it as justice, and store it as debt owed. Bitterness is like residue that builds up over time from accumulated anger, resentment, pain, or perceived unfairness, ultimately leading to unforgiveness. Consider bitterness as a plant with its leaves looking green but its root is rotting from fungal infection. Eventually, the entire plant will collapse. You can be called, gifted, and anointed, ministering and winning souls for the Kingdom of God, but still foster a heart of bitterness.       The Apostle Paul boldly urges us in Ephesians 4:31 to put away all bitterness and wrath. He further advises us to reject and renounce our former ways, which are tainted by sinful habits. The Holy Spirit cannot freely work in a life that is holding onto malice, anger, and unforgiveness. Neither wi...

Feeling Discouraged

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Joshua 1:1-9 Worship Song: Bridge Over Troubled Water   Meditation:      To be discouraged is to feel deprived of hope, courage, and confidence, or to feel disheartened. Discouragement is a common daily challenge that severely impacts our faith, spiritual and physical well-being, leaving us feeling defeated and hopeless. After the death of Moses, God commanded Joshua to be strong, courageous, and not to be dismayed or afraid. Joshua needed that reassurance to lead the people to the promised land.       In Deuteronomy 31 and Joshua 1, God encourages us to be strong and courageous. He reassures us not to be afraid because He will never leave nor forsake us. When you feel discouraged, find comfort in God's word and be assured that the Lord promised to prosper us and not harm us, and give us hope and a future. No matter the challenges you encounter, let nothing move you to despair; rejoice in the truth and pro...

Experience God in Your Brokenness

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Genesis 21:9-20 Worship song: Carry Me   Meditation:      Rejected and left alone in the wilderness, Hagar encountered a messenger of God who comforted her by assuring her Ishmael would become the father of a mighty nation. Her experience proves that God cares for the broken and abandoned, bringing them hope and restoration through his grace. God specializes in mending what is broken. He takes our ashes and transforms them into beauty, offering comfort in our darkest moments. He does not abandon broken people; He draws closer when we reach our breaking point, offering comfort, hope, and assurance.       He tenderly heals shattered hearts and binds up every wound providing emotional, physical, and spiritual renewal. We have the assurance that God watched over the desolate and saved those with a contrite and humble spirit. He gives power to the faint, and increases the strength of the weak. If you feel aband...

You Are exposed

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Ephesians 6:10-18 Worship song: Keeping Me Alive   Meditation:      The Weather Channel provides critical updates to help the public navigate daily activities and safety risks. In response to shifting climate patterns, people are increasingly adapting their clothing choices to protect their bodies from the effects of extreme weather. Just as we actively safeguard our physical bodies from harm, we must treat the protection of our spiritual well-being as an immediate priority.       Divine protection covers you from the snare of the fowler, from the noisome pestilence, and from every weapon of the enemy. True divine protection is only fully realized by those who live circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise. When you are walking contrary to God’s will, you reject His covering, leaving you defenseless against spiritual attack. Turning away from God and embracing ungodly ways causes you to lose spiritual ...

Serving From An Empty Place

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: 1 Kings 17:1-16 Worship song: Made A Way   Meditation:      The account of the widow of Zarephath, who sacrificially provided for Elijah despite having only one meal left, and Apostle Paul’s testimonies of serving amidst extreme hardship, teach us what it truly means to trust God's provision while serving from an empty place. By serving from a position of emptiness we shift away from self-reliance to dependence on God's limitless provision. The widow's demonstration of faith and obedience is a reminder that trusting God with our last resources allows His limitless grace to fill the void.       Trusting God, especially in the weakest moments, opens the door for God to demonstrate His strength through one's limitations, transforming personal inadequacy into a testimony of God's power. Paul celebrates his own weakness, knowing that when he is at his weakest, he is strongest through Christ. God's grace is...

Jesus Christ To The Rescue

Image
Good morning Scripture Reading: Romans 5 Worship Song: Rescue   Meditation:      Life's challenges can be overwhelming, leaving a trail of bittersweet memories in their wake. Heartaches, broken pieces, shattered dreams, and ruined lives are the reasons Christ died on Calvary's cross. Jesus Christ chose to die and endured chastisement to demonstrate his love for humanity. He came to redeem us from the bondage of our iniquities, liberate us from spiritual captivity, and bring light to a dark world. He came that we might have life and have it more abundantly. He came not to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved. He came to seek and save the lost, to preach repentance to sinners, to serve, to fulfill the laws and the prophets, and to bring assurance to a hopeless world.       Jesus came to rescue us, so let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Jesus left us His divine peace to experience the fullnes...

Heartfelt Gratitude

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Worship song: Thank You Lord   Meditation:      Recognizing God's goodness in all circumstances empowers us to appreciate the seemingly insignificant things in life.   Very gingerly, the homeless man laid out his bedding at the side of the business place in the freezing cold. With just a thick blanket to lie on and another to cover up, he settled into his long pants and jacket, looking perfectly comfortable. A cold knot formed in my stomach at the thought of him lying in that 35-degree weather.       Before complaining about what you lack, appreciate what you have. Trade your complaints for gratitude, and appreciate your daily blessings for someone is wishing they had a fraction of what you have. Instead of murmuring and complaining, cultivate a mindset of gratitude, and express your appreciation through spiritual songs, praise, and adoration to the Lord. Reflect on the go...

The Scars That Never Fade

Image
Good morning Scripture Reading: St. John 20: 24-28 Worship Song: Scars in The Hand of Jesus   Meditation:      Visible body scars are a powerful, lasting testament to overcoming past pain, symbolizing endurance and triumph rather than just injury. They represent personal strength and the courageous survival of difficult experiences. Unlike our own scars, which often stem from mishaps or mistakes, the scars of Jesus Christ testify to His victory over sin and death. The scars on His hands, feet, and side represent the nail scars of profound injustice he willingly endured to redeem mankind. Jesus embraced the agony of crucifixion to bring us peace. He was wounded and afflicted for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities, and bore every stripe for spiritual, emotional, and physical healing. Because of His ultimate sacrifice, we have the opportunity to live eternally.       To reject Jesus Christ is to turn one's back on the on...

Build Your Hope On Things Eternal

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Colossians 3:1-2 Hymn: Hold to God's Unchanging Hands   Meditation:      Hold to God's Unchanging Hand," penned by Jennie Wilson in 1906, reflects the message of Colossians 3:1-2 urging believers to anchor their hope in things eternal, rather than investing in temporary, fading earthly treasures. Build your hope on the unchanging promises of God, trusting in His unwavering faithfulness for earthly things we see are only temporary; but the heavenly, unseen things are everlasting. Build your confidence in the God of hope who will fill you with joy and peace that you may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.       Place your confidence in God for He delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love. Even amidst turmoil, chaos, and confusion, the believer's hope is secure in God's promises, providing the strength to endure trials with confidence rather than fear. Whatever ...

Connected through Christ

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: St. John 1:1-13 Worship song: I Am A Child of God   Meditation:      A believer's primary identity is not based on their achievements or social standing, but in being a child of God. Romans 8:16-17 confirms that believers are God’s adopted children and heirs to His kingdom, alongside Jesus Christ. This inheritance includes sharing in Christ’s suffering, enduring trials, persecution, or sacrifice for the Gospel which are considered temporary compared to the future glory.       True members of Jesus' family are those who conform their lives to the desires of the Heavenly Father. Adoption into God's household makes us brothers and sisters, firmly rooted in our connection to Christ. Jesus described the personal relationship with him and believers as a vine and its branches, emphasizing that the branch cannot bear fruit unless it is connected to the vine. Remaining in the vine requires a consistent, obedient, a...
