Called to Serve

Good morning

Scripture: Matthew 10:1-20

Hymn: Just as I am

 Meditation:

Jesus Christ selected ordinary persons to serve as his disciples and then he equipped them with power over unclean spirits, to cast them out and to heal all manner of sickness and diseases. Among those whom Jesus chose to be his disciples were tax collectors and fishermen. As Jesus sent forth his disciples to serve, he gave them clear instructions to take the gospel to those who would listen and to the lost sheep. The disciples were told that they would encounter some stubborn, self-willed persons, who would reject the gospel.

The disciples were sent among the vilest of sinners and were advised to use wisdom, be harmless, and focus on their mission. They were also warned about the persecution they would eventually encounter. If you are called to serve, do so with a willing heart, knowing that you are serving a mighty, promise-keeping God. Do not be concerned about what you must speak, or what you will encounter, for the Holy Spirit will empower you and fill you with words of wisdom to speak unto the lost sheep. The message of hope is ours to carry into the world, and we hope and pray that all people will repent and believe, yet it is their choice, what they will do with it. We must, however, continue to teach, preach, and spread the good tidings.

Let's pray:

Jehovah God, ruler of heaven and earth, I look to you, O God, to empower us with wisdom and knowledge as we dissect your words, that as we go forth to spread the gospel, lives will be impacted. Almighty God, I pray that as the gospel is spread to those near and far it will pierce hearts and dismantle the separation walls. Almighty God, I pray that hearts will be receptive to the gospel, even amid persecution and suffering. Jehovah Rapha, give us the spirit of boldness to spread the message of salvation wherever we go, to the unbelievers, the self-will, the self-righteous, those who refused to surrender to you, those who have turned their backs on you, and those who have refused to incline their ears, O God. O Lamb of God, I pray that the guilty will bow before you and confess their faults so they can receive pardon for their transgressions. Touch the heart of the lost, the dying sinner, O God, that they will surrender their lives unto you and bask in your grace, goodness, and mercies through Jesus Christ our advocate. Amen.

Have a wonderful day. Be safe. 👏🙏💕
