A Thirst for Righteousness

Good morning

Scripture reading: Romans 6:11-23

Worship song: Grace Greater Than Our Sin

Meditation:

At the beginning of the chapter, the Apostle Paul refuted the misconception that salvation is by grace through faith. Based on his rebuttal, it is clear that the saints were disputing about sin, salvation, law, and grace. Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. Although the grace of God abounds with those who yield to righteousness, and his grace is greater than all our sins, we should not remain as servants to sin. Just as one person's disobedience made many people sinners, one person's obedience made many people righteous. When we were controlled by sin, we were not free to pursue righteousness; however, by becoming servants of God, we are now freed from sin's control.

Should the believers who wholeheartedly accepted the doctrine that was delivered to us continue to yield to ungodliness? Should sin have dominion over us? Absolutely not! God's grace is greater than all our sins. Though God's grace surpasses all our sins, we should not yield to sin because the wages of sin are death. A life of habitual sin can keep us bound to unrighteousness. Therefore, if you are freed from sin, seek not to be entangled, and be yoked in bondage to iniquity and uncleanness. Instead, seek to yield your members unto righteousness. Sin is unacceptable because it destroys holiness and severs our connection to a Holy God.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, I am grateful to you for your grace which abounds, which is greater than all our sins. Father, I give thanks that we are no longer under the law, but by your grace and abundant mercies, we are pardoned from iniquities. Almighty God, as we surrender our mind, body, heart, and soul to you, we ask, mighty one that you kill our fleshly desires and break our ungodly desires so that we may freely seek after that which is holy and righteous. Almighty God, remove the stumbling blocks of sin and iniquities so that we may seek after holiness and godliness. Father, lift a standard against the plague of sin and liberate us from presumptuous sinning. We confess our sins, known and unknown, and claim victory over the dominant power of sin. Almighty God, where sin abounds, may your grace much more abound through Jesus Christ, our redeemer. Amen.

Stay safe. Shalom. 💕💪🙏
