The Scapegoat Ritual
Good morning
Scripture reading: Leviticus 16
Worship song: By His wounds
Meditation:
A scapegoat is a goat used in a biblical ritual, described in Leviticus, to facilitate atonement and purification for the Israelites. On the Day of Atonement, the people's sins were symbolically transferred to the goat, which was then sent into the wilderness to carry their transgressions away. The ritual that was practiced before Christ's sacrificial offering was that the priest would lay both his hands upon the head of a live goat and confess over it all the iniquities and transgressions of the sins of the children of Israel upon the head of the goat, and then send it away by the hand of a competent man into the wilderness and release it in the wild.
Today, we
are humbly invited into the presence of God's grace to confess our sins before
our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter; it
was for our transgressions that he was wounded and bruised, bearing the burden
of all our sins. Humanity does not have to be compelled by sin. Let Jesus'
ultimate sacrifice be the anchor of your life, liberating you from the bondage
of sin and enabling you to walk in the liberty of righteousness.
Let us pray:
Sovereign God, I raise a Hallelujah to you, O Lord, the lamb
that was slain for the remission of our sins. We are eternally grateful to you,
Lord, for your sacrificial offering that purchased our redemption. Every stripe
and wound was received willingly to free us from the bondage of sin, and for
this, we give thanks. Father, may we dwell in your presence and humbly bow
before you at your feet, recognizing the costly price you have paid for our
freedom. Father, we thank you for bringing an end to the rituals of atonement.
We are grateful to you for sending your Son to be the perfect and complete
sacrifice for sins. Great I AM, we thank you for your unwavering love and
enduring grace. We trust you completely to safeguard and protect our family and
neighbors. Please shelter us in your arms and order our steps as we seek to
follow you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen.
Wishing you a prosperous day. 👏💕🙏
