Get Rid of The Pesky Nuisance

Good morning

Scripture reading: Hebrews 12:1-2

Worship song: Flee from Sin/Run to Jesus

Meditation:

Spiders are pesky, unwelcome arachnids that invade our spaces, where they mostly take up residence in the ceiling and in the corners of our homes. They wove cobwebs strong enough to trap and collect their prey. As soon as you destroy its web, the spider wove another in the same spot. The only way to get rid of the cobweb is to get rid of the spiders that wove the web, but as long as you allow the spider to remain, you will never get rid of the web. The same thing with sin; as long as you don't get rid of the source that caused the sin, sin will continue to have dominion power over you.

If you get rid of the root cause of sin, you will be able to conquer sin. To avoid being drunk, resist the rum bar. To avoid bitterness, envy, and strife, stay away from unholy conversation and conduct. If your erotic behavior arises whenever you diverge your mind with sexually exotic materials, then by getting rid of such material, you will conquer the desire to commit sexual sin. You can begin by putting away your lasciviousness and all other attributes that led to sin. Put away far from you all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, uncleanness, witchcraft, heresies, evil speaking, and malice, and allow peace, kindness, love, compassion, meekness, and tender mercies to dwell in your heart richly.

Let us pray:

God of a second chance, I give you thanks, O Lord, for the opportunity granted unto us to surrender our all to you. Father, circumcise our hearts and ears and bring us to a place where self-righteousness and selfish desires will be slain by the power of the Holy Ghost. Almighty God, destroy our appetite for the things that cause sin to manifest itself in our mind, heart, and body. Temptations are a common assault on man, but we believe, Almighty God, that you will make a way for us to escape and resist that which caused us to sin. Almighty God, we are prone to wander, prone to return to that which you have rescued us from, and so God, we put our faith in you, knowing that you will not suffer us to be tempted beyond what we can endure. Father, divert our attention to the things that are pure, lovely, and honest, lest we be caught in the act of committing a sin against thee. Purify and cleanse us with hyssop, Almighty God, as we confess our sins and lay them down at the foot of the cross. Forgive us, O God, and let not sin have dominion power over us. We plead in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen.

Have a wonderful day. Blessings. 🙏
