Until You Reach the Finish Line
Good morning
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 9: 24-27
Worship Song: Unfinished Task
Meditation:
At a recent worship service, I listened keenly as the key speaker gave a synopsis of his participation in a recent marathon race. He shared with us of the times during the race when he felt like giving up, but he persevered until he reached the finish line. As I pondered his speech, I could not help but compare our Christian journey to a marathon race that requires great sacrifice, hard work, patience, resilience, persistence, and determination. We must press on toward the goal of the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Many have started to walk with the Lord, but stopped along the path, refusing to finish the journey. Many have given up the moment they encounter challenges and failed to persevere to the end. You will start the process energized, anticipating success and achievement, but if along the path, you encounter trials, setbacks, obstacles, frustration, failures, discouragement, and challenges, do not give up.
Those who put their hands to the plow and look back are not fit for the kingdom of God. This Christian race is not for the swift but for the faithful willing to endure until the end with a desire to follow Jesus Christ, his teachings, and commands. When running the Christlike marathon, we have to solely depend on God to renew our strength so we can mount up with wings as eagles, run, and not get weary and walk without feeling faint. Let us therefore endeavor to endure until the end, keep the faith, patiently finish the course, and win the race. Let us pray:
Sovereign God, adorned in splendor and majesty, you are
truly worthy of our praise and adoration. Almighty God, as we traverse this
path that leads to eternal life, we confidently ask for the spirit of
endurance, patience, and unwavering faith to run this race and complete our
course. Father, as we strive to live according to Your commands and precepts,
we declare that You will strengthen the weary and empower the weak. Though our
flesh and heart may falter, we know, Lord, that you are the strength of our hearts and our
eternal portion. Almighty God, as we press forward toward the prize for which
You have called us heavenward in Jesus Christ, we do so not by our might or
power, but by Your Spirit, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Wishing you a fantastic day. 💖🙏
