Sojourners In a Strange Land
Good morning
Scripture reading: Exodus 12:37-42
Worship song: Faithful Pilgrim
Meditation:
The Lord God revealed to Abram in a vision that his descendants would become immigrants in a strange land and would be mistreated for 400 years, after which time He would send a deliverer to rescue them from bondage. God assured Abram that after that he would deliver them from their oppressors, and they would leave that country with great substance. The events that unfolded after Joseph's injustice and hardship created the circumstances that led to the Israelites' enslavement in Egypt.
After Joseph's death, the Israelites in Egypt continued to experience growth and prosperity, multiplying greatly. However, a new Pharaoh, who did not know Joseph, came to power. Concerned by their increasing numbers and strength, he enslaved them, forcing them to build cities and work under harsh conditions. This period of enslavement and hardship eventually led to the Israelites crying out to God, who remembered his covenant with their ancestor, Abraham. The Israelites journeyed to the land of Canaan guided by Moses, God's faithful servant after sojourning in Egypt for 430 years and enduring 400 years of oppression.
God
still hears the cry of the sojourners, so be careful who you oppress, lest you
wound those who are His. Remember you were once a stranger in a foreign land.
Let us pray:
Jehovah God, I acknowledge your sovereignty and affirm that
you are my Lord and King. Lord, I believe you are the covenant-keeping God, who
will never leave or forsake us. Remember your people, O God, and send destiny
helpers to protect us from merciless taskmasters. Keep us safe from all evil and protect us from the plot and scheme of Satan and his cohorts. Most importantly, Lord, grant us the grace to
remain humble, steadfast, and focused, recognizing that our existence on earth
is temporary. Help us align our lives with your will and principles by
extending kindness, compassion, and mercy to one another, especially those
marginalized, oppressed, and afflicted. We ask this in the powerful name of
Jesus Christ. Amen.
Wishing you a day of peace and blessings. ✌💓🙏
