Wrapped in a Blanket of Fear

Good morning

Scripture reading: Deuteronomy 31:1-8

Worship song: Fear Is a Liar

Meditation:

When he was chosen to lead the Israelites to the Promised Land, Joshua experienced anxiety and uncertainty, fueled by fear, which undermined his leadership abilities. More than once, Joshua was reminded of the divine order to be strong, courageous, and not be afraid, for the Lord God will be with him wherever he goes. Our anxiety when we explore unknown territory stems from a natural fear of the unpredictable, much like Joshua's journey into the new land. However, if we trust in the Lord and do not lean on our limited understanding, He will direct our path. Though Joshua was fearful, he obeyed the Lord's command by demonstrating strong leadership and faith leading the Israelites to victory.

We can find assurance in the promises of the Lord to strengthen and uphold us with his righteous right hand. We can further be encouraged by the testimonies of the Psalmist. Despite facing numerous and terrifying enemies, the Psalmist expresses unwavering faith and confidence in God. He declares that though a host encamps against him, he will not fear, and though he walks through the valley of the shadow of death, he will fear no evil, for the Lord is with him. Walk by faith, not by fear, trusting in God's perfect divine plan.

Let us pray:

Jehovah Nissi, our chief commander, we surrender all battles to you, O God. We honor your constant faithfulness to the Israelites and your mighty deliverance from their enemies. Lord, we are depending on you to fight battles on our behalf, protect and shield us from our enemies, and grant us victory. We trust you, Almighty God, to keep us safe from our enemies and in the midst of the wicked. Bless us, O God, with unwavering faith and strength to stand firm amidst persecution. Consume the spirit of fear, worry, and doubt and keep us in perfect peace, O God. We place our trust in you, Lord, fearing no evil for you are with us and will surely comfort and protect us when we walk through the valley of the shadow of death. Keep us in perfect peace, O God, for our mind is focused on you. We thank you for your divine wisdom, protection, and help through Jesus Christ our Redeemer. Amen.

Wishing you a blessed day. 👏💓🙏
