Remember The Lord Your God

Good morning

Scripture reading: Deuteronomy 8:7-20

Worship song: Blessed Be Your Name

Meditation:

Moses issued a stern warning to the Israelites as they prepared to enter the Promised Land cautioning them not to allow future wealth, comfort, and success to cause them to forget that God is the true source of all their blessings. The human tendency is to become prideful and forget the God who delivered them out of hardship and desperate circumstances. People are swift to negotiate with God during times of difficulty, earnestly pleading for relief, but they often break their promises once their circumstances improve or stability is restored.

Never boast that your success is the result of your own strength and hard work. Always acknowledge that your wealth comes from God. Remember to give thanks, for it is the Lord who grants you the ability to prosper. Whatever we build in this life is empowered by God. If He is not the foundation, our work is in vain. "Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it" (Psalms 127:1).

Moses' caution against complacency during periods of success serves as a reminder that mankind habitually fails to recognize divine intervention following deliverance from peril.  Forgetting the source of your blessings and claiming the glory for yourself will inevitably lead to downfall. (Deuteronomy 8:19)

Let us pray:

Sovereign God, your word is a lamp unto our feet and light onto our path. Abba Father, we acknowledge your sovereignty and power, recognizing, O Lord, that you are the foundation of our achievements. We worship you confidently from a place of gratitude, knowing, O God, that you are the restorer and giver of blessings. Lord, we humble ourselves in Your presence daily, boasting in Your divine power and not our own feeble strength. We thank You for keeping us safe, providing for us, and rescuing us in our times of need. I pray, O God, that we will not be blinded by wealth or our accomplishments, that we forget, O Lord, that you are the true source of all our blessings. Assist us, Lord God, not to make desperate promises we easily forget, but rather uphold our pledges with genuine thanksgiving and praise in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Wishing you a joyful day. 👏🙌🙏
