Lay It All Down And Follow Me

Good morning

Scripture reading: Luke 9:23-27

Worship song: Let Me Lose Myself

Meditation:

Committing oneself to be a disciple of Jesus entails dedicating one's entire life to practicing His teachings and following in His footsteps. Self-denial is imperative for every follower of Jesus Christ, requiring us to surrender our fleshly desires and submit them to God's authority. Jesus affirms, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me." When we deny ourselves for Christ's sake, we relinquish personal desires and self-will to align our lives with His purpose and embrace His teachings. His will must be prioritized in all circumstances, especially amidst hardship and tribulations.

Moreover, self-denial involves a willingness to lay down our lives for Christ's sake. Jesus assures us that abandoning our own selfish agenda to follow Him will lead to true fulfillment and eternal life. He does not call us to give up living but to embrace a new and abundant life that only He can provide. It profits us nothing if we gravitate to the things of this world. We must be willing to sacrifice our time, rights, status, comfort, reputation, privileges, and even our very lives to obtain life everlasting. The scripture reminds us it profits us nothing to gain the whole world and lose our souls.

Let us pray:

Everlasting Father, the giver and sustainer of life, allow me to lose myself and find it anew in You, Lord. Father, there is nothing in this world that can truly satisfy if it is not Your will, so Lord, eradicate fleshly desires and help us pursue Your righteousness. Remove from us vanity, wantonness, unrighteous yearnings, self-indulgence, and worldly pleasures. Direct our hearts and minds to focus intentionally on You. Lord, we willingly relinquish the world's glamour and anything that hinders our complete devotion to You. Almighty God, we renounce our self-will to fully embrace Your divine will and teachings through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Peace and love. ✌💕🙏
