I Have Seen Your Affliction

Good morning.

Meditation:

    After the death of Joseph and the passing of the King of Egypt, a new ruler began to reign who knew not about the role or affairs of Joseph. The new king, Pharaoh, ruled with an iron fist, instructing the taskmasters to afflict the Israelites and forcing them to work under oppression, but their cries did not fall on deaf ears. God heard the Israelites' cries. He knew their sorrows, and he saw their affliction, and he said he came down to deliver them out of the hands of their oppressors. God had revealed to Abraham that his generation would sojourn in a strange land for four hundred years, and there they would undergo great affliction. God assured Abraham that He would bring judgment on the nation of Egypt and deliver his generation from bondage. God was faithful to His promise. 

    You might have been praying constantly, pleading to God to deliver you out of the hands of your oppressors. For years, you might be seeking God's help to combat physical or spiritual issues while praying for healing, deliverance, and breakthrough, but whatever your state, remember, God sees, hears, and knows. Your cries have not fallen on deaf ears. Keep on praying, and wait a little while longer, for God is not slack in his promise. Wait and be of good courage, for the God who delivered the Israelites will deliver you at the appointed time. Continue to pray and trust God.

Let's pray:

    Sovereign God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, the God who delivered the Israelites from bondage, I honour and exalt You as my King. Promise-keeping God, great in power, majesty, and loyalty, the God who knows all about us, I worship You, for there is none like You, mighty God. Abba Father, we often become overwhelmed with the chaos, the cruelty, and the bitter woes we encounter, but remind us, O God, that we serve a capable God who sees, knows, and hears and can deliver us from every situation. Remind us, O God, that despite the affliction, the oppression, and the acts of evil that surround us, You are still in control. Almighty God, to us, the wait is long, but remind us, O God, that Your ways of operating are different from ours, and Your thoughts surpass our limited thoughts. Abba Father, grant us patience to wait upon You for help, Lord, for there is none to deliver us except You, mighty God. Father, grant us courage and endurance as we wait upon You in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen.
