In What Do We Boast?

 Good morning

 Scripture reading: Psalm 49

Worship song: I will boast in Christ

Meditation:

It is customary for humans to boast about their accomplishments, their successes, and their possessions. Being successful or being blessed with amazing talent and abilities are not bad things, but we so often seek these things above pursuing a relationship with God. The material things we possess and the things we accomplish are nothing compared to knowing and living for God. We can gain the world and be the most successful person, but that cannot compare to having a close connection to God. Solomon was wise and rich, yet he concluded that what he acknowledged was vanity and vexation of spirit. The more we strive to obtain and accomplish the things of the world, the less we seek after God. Matthew 6:33, Jesus implores us to seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness and other things will be granted unto us. Solomon had a desire to serve the people, so he asked God for wisdom and was granted both wisdom and riches. He never asked for riches, but God blessed him abundantly because he was willing to serve the people sincerely. God looks at the intent of our hearts. Do not boast in your wisdom, power, or riches, but glorify the Lord, who exercises loving kindness, judgment, and righteousness. Delight in the God who can satisfy all your desires. Do not boast in temporary vanity, but rather boast in Jesus Christ, the everlasting King.

Let us pray:

Great are you, Lord, and greatly to be praised. My soul shall boast in you, O Lord. Everlasting Father, let me not boast in vanity, nor put anything before or above you. Mighty God, let me not boast in worldly possession, success, or accomplishment, but rather let me boast in your loving kindness, goodness, grace, and mercies. Almighty God, incline my heart to seek after you and serve you with my talents and abilities. Heavenly Father, I desire to remain steadfast and committed to You, Lord. Draw me closer to you, O Lord, mold me, make me, and fill me with your desires, mighty God. Lord God, kill my flesh, break my desires that are not in accordance with your will, and help me seek daily after righteousness. Incline thine ear unto my cry and hear my plea, O God, through Jesus Christ, my Saviour and King. Amen. (Child of the King).

 Have a peaceful day. 💞
