The Scapegoat Ritual
Good morning
Scripture reading: Leviticus 16
Worship song: By His wounds
Meditation:
A scapegoat is a goat used in a biblical ritual, described in Leviticus, to achieve atonement and purification for the Israelites. On the Day of Atonement, the people's sins were symbolically transferred to the goat, which was then sent into the wilderness to carry their transgressions away. The ritual that was practice before Christ's sacrificial offering was the priest would lay both his hands upon the head of a live goat and confess over it all the iniquities and transgressions of the sins of the children of Israel, putting them upon the head of the goat, and then send it away by the hand of a competent man into the wilderness and release it in the wild.
Today, we are humbly invited into the presence of God's grace to confess our sins before our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and it was for our transgressions that he was wounded and bruised, bearing the weight of all our sins. You don't have to be mastered by sin. Let Jesus' ultimate sacrifice be the anchor of your life, freeing you from sin's rule so you can walk in righteousness.
Let us pray:
Sovereign God, I raise a Hallelujah to you, O Lord, the lamb
that was slain for the remission of our sins. We are forever grateful to you,
Lord God, for your sacrificial offering that purchased our redemption. Every
stripe and wound were received willingly to set us free from sin's bondage, and
for that we are grateful. Father, may we live in your presence and humble
ourselves at your feet, knowing you have paid a gruesome price for our freedom.
Father, we thank you for bringing an end to the rituals of atonement. We are
grateful to you for sending your son to be the perfect and complete sacrifice
for sins. Great I AM, thank you for your unwavering love and constant grace. We
trust you completely to watch over and protect our family and all those we hold
dear. Please shelter us in your arms and guide our steps as we seek to follow
you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen.
Wishing you a great day. 💓🙏
Some one carried our years of sin and is still bearing them today and every now and then we put more on Him. We will be considerate and walk in His expectations. Blessings always. 🙏🙏
